I did a search and didn't come up with anything significant. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this company. Specifically the job they have posted on their jobs section titled Transportation Officer - Armed. Thanks in advance for any help.

G4S USA is/was Wackenhut. Start your search from there and you can probably get a good idea.

Depending on how you break things down.. G4S is either the largest.. or the second largest provider of security services in the world..
their primary focus in on contract guard services..
but they also offer a number of different products and service areas both internally, and throught subsidiary companies.. (everything from training to investigations to armed escort.. to force protection in austere environments.. to electronic and technical solutions.. etc..)
the original company was formed in the early 1900's (they have morphed several times.. but are over 100 years old at this point..)..
in short.. they are a legitmate company.. with a massive global presence.. and a long standing heritage..
how good an individual job is.. really "depends" on what position you are talking about.. and what you want out of it..

G4S and Securitas both claim to be the "biggest".. It really depends on how you define things...
revenue... or total number of employees... or largest global footprint.. or total number of offices/branches... etc..
one thing is certain.. they are the only two companies in their primary markets that operate at their level globally.. 3rd, 4th, and 5th place.. fall WAY behind the two pack leaders... companies like Allied Barton, Guardsmark, etc.. that also have national/global presence... dont even get close to either one of them in any of those areas mentioned above.. when other companies get big enough to start encroaching on their turf.. they get bought (like Securitas did to Pinkerton.. and G4S did to Securicor)...

I worked for G4S in Asia as National Operations Manager in Cambodia, but not for the US end of things. They treated me well, in general. It was interesting taking a 50 percent pay cut to get into management from Force Protection in Kosovo, but like the esteemed mdwest says, it depends on what you want out of it. I got some fantastic experience, and a pretty decent lifestyle.
I'd do it again. MOST of my superiors treated me fairly.

OK, I am going to be the dick here. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?? If you couldnt find info on G4S, you should go back to kindergarten. Google it, see what comes up. Fucking pages of it. If you can't do that simple of research, you are not wanted on my team.
And Blazer, read and search this site. Anything you want has been discussed MILLIONS of times!! Its amazing what some self motivated research does.
You will have to load your own mags if you get a job, you get the point?

Thanks for the feedback guys.
VT I see where you're coming from. I wasn't clear enough, I wanted info from a first hand perspective and not info I can find on their website or on news related websites.

I never worked for G4S... but... did run into these guys all the time when I worked for EODT on the SBINET project.
Basically... (in AZ anyway) they sit in busses at points along the US / MEX border, and on points along roads leading to the border. Border Patrol brings them groups of illegal aliens. Once your bus is ful, you transport the group to the CBP processing station.
Simple. Decent pay (I think around $22/hr... 4 10 hour shifts per week. OR - thats what it was in 08/09). They seemed to enjoy their jobs. I say jump on it. Good quality kit... issued L3a vests, high quality uniform, S&W M&P .40... I may go apply too.
