Requesting a check

Hello,

I have an individual who just joined my company over here in the sandbox. It took about 30 seconds for a wave of bullshit flags to pop up. He claims Scout/Sniper with "2nd STA" an "individual unit that was farmed out to MARSOC for special missions, and billeted next to MARSOC at Camp Lejeune." He says his MOS was 0314 which is a RHIB Coxswain, although he claims it's the Scout/Sniper MOS, and I'm fairly certain it's not even used anymore since the last I heard was that the Boat Companies were going away. He makes other claims of having worked for TC as a DDM doing PSD work in the Green Zone, and then contradicted himself by saying that he was actually performing PSD work as a Marine. The other Marines I work with, and myself (Former FMF Corpsman) have pretty much decided he's full of shit, but I'd like confirmation before we bring it up the chain of command. The name of the individual in question is Schiltz, Coady age 22. Thanks for the assistance!

No such thing as just a "2nd STA" for starters...Would have to be 2nd Batallion_______Marines, STA Platoon. (number belongs in the blank) When I was in the MOS was 8541 and I believe it has since changed to an 0317. His age would make it real tough for him to have been a DDM and worked PSD...if he enlisted in the military at 18 like most of us that meens he was 22 years old after his four year enlistment and he already has went through WPPS, DDM, deployed for PSD work and is now working with you...seems unlikely.

Tell him you had a friend who was an instructor at the Scout Sniper school located at Camp Geiger and see what his reply is...if he doesnt correct you he is full of pooh. 2nd Marine Division Scout Sniper school is run out of Stone Bay.

As far as the DDM thing...I just asked a current Shift Leader, who used to be a DDM, who has been there the last 5 years and he has never heard of him.

I overlooked what you wrote in regards to MARSOC. In any event, MARSOC has their own Snipers and would not need one "farmed out" to them from elsewhere...making this guy more full of pooh by the second. A guy I used to work with just checked a roster and this clown wasn't with TC as a DDM doing PSD work in the green zone.

For us he's a wrangler, my coworkers and I have been doing much diligent researching and have determined him to be at most WI Army National Guard... maybe. Still checking on it.

My two cents, SCCo stood down in 2004, and the MOS 0314 is Rigid Raiding Craft (Boston Whaler) not a RHIB. He would of had to enlist in 2003 just to get the official training to get the MOS, he'd have been 15.
And SB is correct, but "Sneads Ferry Sneakers" are comfy!!

He was also involved in the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps and it looks like a lot of the friends he had there went on to the USN or USMC (based on images/info from their profiles).

Life is way too short, if you want to be something, then do it, if you fail, then either try again or move on.

Lying/Posing is just asinine. Forget being called out on the internet or whatever drama it immediately causes, (Hopefully you qualify to be prosecuted) but to me, you just completely made your name, and more IMPORTANTLY your family's name, essentially worthless.... I can't think of anything worse.

Although I can see why people would be tempted to claim to be "cooler" than they are, in today's world of high-tech, you have really gotta be desperate to try to pull it off. It is WAY too easy to check out the claims.

If you look at some of the postings this guy has, he also claims to be a Joint Fires Observer (JFO). Although he did start the JFO school, he never graduated. He was an academic wash-out.

Just an FYI, Sniper School moved to Camp Geiger around July of 2008, I attended the first class at the new location.

Hey brother, it's just that the Army has such a high number of guys compared to the MC and Navy. I know there are a lot of solid guys in both the NG and regular Army but it's just a number games. When I was working corporate security a contract guy they used to cover me while i was gone told them that he was a Marine Sniper. When I got back and he found out I was a Marine as well it changed to NBC, but I had to listen to hours of him telling me about his contract security job (local CONUS) and how the local police contract out to their company to evict people and how they get shot at and everything else...He's that asshole that drives the Caprice and has kept EVERYTHING the same except for the lights on top of the car. Even the little binder thing attached to the passenger seat. He did get a front "license" plate that says Marine. Have to make sure everyone knows that...
sorry, I'm just venting now. The original point of this was just to say that it happens in all branches in all parts of the country.
As an aside, while MarSOC's HQ is in SB, none of the other numbered operational components are. I don't think I need to go further as I'm sure it is pretty clear this guy is full of shit.
