Info on Kosovo

Im being offered a chance for a Kosovo Deployment. Could anyone provide some info as to what U.S. Forces do in Kosovo now. I dont want to blindly jump into this mission without some proper info.

I worked with Dyncorp on the UN police mission in Kosovo back in 2000-2002, and I've kept up with it a little since then. Some of the soldiers in my guard unit deployed to Kosovo in 05-06. PM me and I'll tell you what I know, if it helps.

Civillian or Military deployment?

Do an AKO files search. IE KOSOVO country studies, etc. They typically have some pretty good information on there, and the studies are usually within the past 2-3 years. Much of it, you don't even have to be approved into somebody's folder to use.

It's an experience. Certainly not the high speed action that is out there, but you get to see a bunch of ugly people in what is really a beautiful land.

Oh Kosovo.. I remember Camp Bondsteel when it was just a big open field with nothing else in it. I deployed there with 1-26 Inf in 99 when it opened up. For the mostpart it is really beautiful country. We stayed a few miles away from what is now Camp Monteith in an old police station with some Civil Affairs SF guys.
