.MEXICO CITY – Gunmen attacked patrons at a bar near the U.S. consulate in Ciudad Juarez early Sunday, killing three people in the second deadly club shooting in a week in the violent northern Mexico border city.

Two young men died at the Muro bar during the shooting around 1:30 a.m. and a third victim died after being taken to a hospital, said the spokesman for Chihuahua state prosecutors, Julio Castaneda. Two more men suffered wounds, he said.

The prosecutors office had not yet identified the victims, who were between 20 and 25 years old, Castaneda said.

It was the second attack on a bar in Ciudad Juarez in a week, he said. Five men were killed a week earlier at the bar La Brecha.

Fighting among rival drug cartels have turned Ciudad Juarez into a battleground in recent years. The city, which sits across from El Paso, Texas, has seen more than 6,000 people killed in drug violence the past two years.

Also on Sunday, Mexican authorities reported the arrest of a suspected high-ranking figure in the Sinaloa drug cartel.

A general in charge of a military garrison near San Luis Rio Colorado in northern Sonora state said police detained Julio Cesar Aguilar Garcia, known as "El Vaquero," or "The Cowboy."

The general says Aguilar is a suspected trafficker for the Sinaloa cartel's Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada. He is alleged to have directed air shipments of drugs in the Valley of Mexicali, near the Arizona border.

The general spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to journalists.

He said a traffic violation led to Friday's arrest of Aguilar and five others.

For those in the El Paso/Ft. Bliss region there is a wealth of information on the current affairs at the Bliss web site along with the most recent Safety Bulletins....For shits and grins, I looked at the link you posted. As expected, it certainly didn't point one immediately to any "safety info." Wait, on the main link to the safety stuff, the first page did remind me to wear my seatbelt -- so yeah, there is certainly safety stuff going on.

I didn't see this wealth of info pertaining to all points South. Can you provide a more detailed link?

As to your news article -- gee, someone got shot in Juarez. This is news you can use how?

https://www.bliss.army.mil/Leaders/documents/2010PolicyLetters/Command%20Policy%20A-4.pdf

All are dated 2009 with the second the 2010 Policy letter and emphasize the prohibition against travel to the border towns. Further references are embedded in the Travel Policy directive.

Sorry for the late response, I was playing draining the swamp yesterday and today.

Further references are embedded in the Travel Policy directive....In your initial post you imply that there is a "wealth of info" for traveling in Mexico. You appear to punctuate your thinking by adding an article of some people who got shot.

Can you at least answer why you are of the impression that the site you listed as a wealth of info for traveling in Mexico?

The references you mention aren't -- a "wealth"....

I wonder if there really IS a good website for those considering travel to Mexico border towns and points south?
