View Full Version : Browser issues?

I have been having problems logging onto here, up until now. That is, of course, until I stumbled upon a solution. It started yesterday evening. I thought perhaps SOCNET was down for maintenance, but soon realized it was not.

Ran a virus scan, malware too, and nothing, also emptied-out my history, cookies and all other info for the past week on both Chrome and Opera.

Just by chance, I turned-on Opera's Turbo mode, and no doubt through stuff my pea brain cannot understand, and internet technology black magic, I managed to get SOCNET to load. This is the only website with loading issues, which is a little bizarre.

Any ideas why this is the case? Any help would be appreciated.

I used to use a Blackberry, with Opera installed, as a work phone. I was on it enough that it would "lock-up" more often than suited me. At the time, the solution was to continually empty the history and cookies, as you stated you did, AND to remove the battery about once a week for a minute or three to let that cracker rest... Once I started that regime, I never had another problem.

Good Luck.

Every couple of weeks or so I can't pull up SOCNET at all. This is the only site I have issues with and it can last 1-3 days.

Then upon checking sometime later I can magically pull it up with no issues.

But as Im as computer dumb as they come, I couldn't tell you how or what the fuck is happening.

Make sure you have your browser cache cleared and are not using any links saved before the last server move.

You should delete all links and save them fresh.

There is no reason not to be able to see the site unless you are using links saved when we were on the former server.

Thanks for the responses, it's much appreciated.

It's funny, just like with Looon, it's suddenly working on it's own. Black magic, I says, magic and spirits!

What exactly do you mean when you say "Can't pull it up?". Does the page not load or do you get the "No Posts match your Search" error from SOCNET, or do you get a browser error? What exactly do you see? What errors do you get from the browsers you mentioned?

TFG,

It would tell me, the following in Opera 11: (Typed from a screenshot I took...)

------------------------------------------------------------

"Could not locate remote server

You tried to access the address www. socnet.com which is currently unavailable. Please make sure that the Web address (URL) is correctly spelt and punctuated, then try reloading the page.

Make sure your Internet connection is active and check whether other applications that rely on the same connection are working.

Check that the set-up of any Internet security software is correct and does not interfere with ordinary Web browsing.

If you are behind a firewall on a Local Area Network and think this may be causing problems, talk to your systems administrator.
Try pressing the F12 key on your keyboard and disabling proxy servers, unless you know that you are required to use a proxy to connect to the Internet. Reload the page.

Need help?
Open the Opera Help.
Go to Opera's online support desk."

Very similar to the error I get.
