I have been trying to find information on Watermark Estate Management Services for some time now. I have verified with a few people in the security field that they are a company. However, I can not find a website for them or any contact information (just a physical address). I have also searched the forums for information on them and have come up with nothing. I am looking for this information so I can send in a resume to them.

Does anyone know the email address to their hr or recruiting department?

Thank you in advance.

Watermark is owned by Bill Gates.. and provides certain security services to him, his wife, etc.. they are a legitimate company, that has been around for several years..

there are 44 watermark employees on linkedin.. several of them in leadership/management positions...if you have an account there... it shouldnt be too hard to make a connection to one of them..

I know them well. I believe they might be looking for personnel, or at least they were not too long ago.

While I won't pass you their info, I will ask if they are looking for anyone.

In advance, if the most you got on your resume is that you were a grunt in the Corps, I think you might find yourself lacking....

i agree with this....

like SOTB.. I know a couple of people there.. and have known a handful of others that were there previously..

a grunt with nothing else on his resume is going to have a hard time getting an interview.. much less a job..

if you bring an advanced degree.. or some very specific job skills/experience.. you MIGHT get in..

but they rarely take people on and give them their first opportunity in the business..

Thank you all for the quick replies.

I know I am lacking the experience needed. However, I got to start somewhere and might as well aim high.

Do any of you have any advice on where to get more experience? I have applied to all the major PMC/PSC out there but at the end of the day did not qualify. I only have 8 months in country when all of the requirements ask for 1 year plus.

Thanks again.

PMC/PSC time isnt always a good thing on your resume when looking for EP work (some companies are ok with it.. others shy away from it)..

There are NUMEROUS protective details, residence watch details, etc.. in your AO..

Microsoft has an internal EP team.. AS Solution provides EP personnel to some of the senior Microsoft C-suite types as well.. Guardsmark used to have a contract with the Gates for residence watch..

Starbucks has a very good corporate security program..

and there are others..

the SETAC area is a decent market for this type of work..

If you are willing to relocate south.. there are probably as many EP and corporate security jobs in Palo Alto and the surrounding cities on the north edge of the silicon valley.. as there are in NYC... all of the big boy technology companies have substantial security departments.. with jobs ranging from the entry level.. to executive management..

go get 2 years experience at the entry level with Facebook.. make a move into a supervisory position within a specialty sector (within security).. and do that successfully for a couple of years.. and then go talk to Watermark.. you will be much more competitive..

(and take both your formal, and informal educational opportunities very serious during that time period.. go pick up the right certifications.. and find yourself a well networked mentor that has a solid reputation in the field..)

Is there a typical work schedule for EP work? Is it 9-5 M-F or what?

mdwest

depends...

guys assigned to "residence watch" typically work a fixed schedule.. (although a detail manager can schedule his people any way he wants to i guess)...

guys that work the close protection side of the house rarely do though.. when the protectee moves.. they move.. if he stays out late.. they stay out late.. if he has early meetings.. they have early meetings.. etc..

the type of people that need (and can afford) a protective detail.. dont work 9-5 M-F..

therefore the people that work in direct support of them dont get to either..

Do they have some kind of rotation like 2 weeks on and off?

Thanks for the answers!!

thats like asking what type of benefits packages do contruction workers get?

who do you work for? what market do you work in? are you building roads? or high rise apartments? are you in a union? how much seniority do you have?

your question is far too broad based..

there are thousands of companies that either have internal EP units... or contract them through another provider.. who you work for determines the schedule, pay, benefits, etc..

what is the standard at boeing, is not the standard at starbucks, which is going to be completely different that what is done at google, which will not be the same thing that microsoft does (all of these companies have EP units)..

it depends on the needs and requirements of the customer and all the associated stakeholders..(the protectee, the corporation, the director of security, etc.. )

mdwest,

I really appreciate you coming on here and the answers you give. Have learned a lot from your insight and truly appreciate it.

In short, EP = personal work.

Look at it like a personal assistant with a gun.

One group had small elementary aged children, so the whole detail was made up of security people with teaching degrees or mathmatic degrees, since the principal deemed math a priority.

Recent joiner here so catching up on some of the postings.

Like mdwest I know a lot of the players in that local market for EP work (used to work MS)...multiple corporations like Microsoft/Gates (with multiple team elements), Starbucks, Amazon, Boeing and some other high net worth families are possibilities (if Seattle is your region).

While majority of the work options are really only for persons with specific EP backgrounds (so proven transition from SpecOp military/SWAT/PSD-DP work to corporate) there are some starter opportunities that can come up. For instance, some corporations have floor security guards specific to the executives (so requires a higher level training). While not working full in close protection, these can allow for opportunities to get into the Full-Time EP team (getting to know the members, usually incorporates some training elements/etc).

If you want to shoot me a resume I can put it in front of some of the players out there (or advise on where to market yourself).

Email is in my profile...
