UDT 20? I must have been asleep! What happened to UDT 21 and don't say SDVT 2!

OK to answer the question, somewhat, UDT 21 became ST 4. UDT 22 became SDVT 2. All happened in 1983 but I don't know the exact date. At that time I was doing an LDO tour before going back to the TEAM's as an 1130 in 1984.

How did those dates mesh with the phasing out of UDT??? Were they the last?

Yes, all UDT Teams became either a SEAL or SDV Team. I'm Not quite sure what UDT 12 or 11 became. The West Coast ended up with ST's, 1, 3, 5 and SDVT 1. As you can see another SEAL Team was formed also.

If you check out SEAL Team fives patch (LOGO) you'll see a sunset in the back ground with UDT-11 on it.

Ok, to clarify the history (please make any correction):
In 1983,
UDT 11 to SEAL Team 5
UDT 12 to SDV Team 1
UDT 13 to SEAL Team 1
UDT 21 to SEAL Team 2
UDT 22 to SDV Team 2

therefore,
SEAL Team 1 from UDT 13 from UDT 5
SEAL Team 2 from UDT 21 from UDT 2
SEAL Team 3 (1980s)
SEAL Team 4 from UDT ??
SEAL Team 5 from UDT 11 from UDT 1
SEAL Team 6 from MOB (1980)
SEAL Team 8 (1990s)
SDV 1 from UDT 12 from UDT 3
SDV 2 from UDT 22 from UDT 4

Still not clear about UDT 20 since I may be wrong, but were there a UDT 20 from 1946 to 1983? IIRC, there were UDT 11, 12, 13, 21 and 22.

SEAL Teams One and Two were in existence long before 1983.

Yes, ST1 and ST2 was set up in 1962. BTW, does NSWC have a command historian?

In 1971 UDT 13 was decomissoned and UDT 22 was "disestablished". UDT 22 was "re-established in the late '70s as an SDV oriented unit. One fond memory of 22's final party, in '71, was seeing LTjg Steffans supporting a road sign while yawning in brillent colors.

t86, I hope you warned the poor guy Mad Mike has his number now. No, wait! I'm picturing the reaction of a SEAL Cdr to what MM would have to say...

ummm, Mikey, I don't have to be a historian to be tired of your disinformation and crappy attitude. There's a place on this board for people who don't know all the answers (like me) but enjoy reading about the subject at hand just the same. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why you WILL not permanently step back from your "I know! I know! See I'm kind of a BTDT too!" stance and just receive and enjoy from those who actually DO know.

This place is great, most of the guys are interesting and fun to listen to, and even those who don't know nuthin' and ain't ever done nuthin', if they have the proper outlook and attitude, can propel the board with their humor and intelligence. I'm not sure that you contribute either of those qualities. However, since you post so darn much, I still have to wade thru your mess.

So, how come you edited your post above? Instead of trying to cover your tail, how about not posting it in the first place?

<waiting for someone to post their tail now...> Sorry, folks, I don't mean to be irritable, but if I get a direct assault, sometimes I will fire back.

So you're from http://www.sbc.edu/?

How is the lineage of the UDTs disinformation?

Well, if you don't know the answer, perhaps you can help me find the answers. The history of the SEALs doesn't interest you????

Sad.

For the record, and so you won't start distributing incorrect information on me now, no, I did not attend Sweet Briar. However, it looks like a great little college.
