The Marines have put together a handbuilt M14 which they are using as their Designated Marksmans Rifle in Afghanistan. It has a working range of 1000yds, which isn't bad for a semi-auto marksmans rifle! It cost them $600 in materials and a couple of days, one of which was to allow drying time for the epoxy.
Check the following link and suss it out.........

They've also got a silencer together for it.

Springfield Armory's M25 "White Feather" SA9502 $3995 - McMillan M3A Stock
McMillan made a run of their M3A Stocks in TAN for SpecOps.
More info can be found on the M25 Project @ Which is the RIGHT Stock for a M25? (http://www.socnetcentral.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9401)
Out of the 2 McMillan Stocks, the M2A and the M3A, I think the M3A Stock is the better of the 2. Has anyone shot ether or both?
Crap:mad: crummy pic site is down:mad: Pics to follow of Army M25:o

"A commercial equivalent would cost somewhere between twenty-eight and thirty-two thousand dollars a piece," [/B]
This is of course an error.
Is there a preference between an M1A (M14) based DMR type rifle and a SR-25 type rifle? Has anyone done a comparison? I know the obvious design differences, but is one of them considered more reliable in certain environments, accuracy, ease of maint/repair?? I'd love to pick one up to round out my little collection.

"A commercial equivalent would cost somewhere between twenty-eight and thirty-two thousand dollars a piece,"
THOUSANDS??? I think he means HUNDREDS,
That Black Springfield Armory's M25 "White Feather" SA9502 has a MSRP of $3995.00. And my M21 SA9131 with the Krieger Stainless Steel Barrel has a MSRP of $3295.00 those prices are RETAIL and without Scopes.

Yeah I think everyone's picked up on the price being out, probably some young overeager journo trying to make it sound better. The guys that put it together say it only cost $600 in parts to build the gun plus the time factor of a days labour and a day for the epoxy to dry. An SSG 3000 level III with all the bells and whistles goes for around 4 grand, so there's no way any replacement is going to exceed 5 grand max.
