View Full Version : What are LE officers take on Bounty Hunters?

I am referring to the few bounty hunters that have LE backgrounds, and act professional and responsible - not the boneheads that conduct themselves no better than a common thug.

I was watching a program on A&E about bounty hunters and the controversy surrounding them, so thought I'd get some opinions from those in the know.

A few years ago, a friend of mine on Fort Worth PD indicated they can be a good asset for LE because they don't have as many legal restrictions on tracking and apprehending people.

Anyone care to comment?

If you search I believe you will find a whole dissertation on this in the not-too-distant past. It degenerated somewhat quickly so I doubt anyone is game to travel down the road again. I don't think it was in SWATNET...it started out over a newspaper article..anybody remember where it was so Cav can look over it?

I didn't think you were Cav and I'm sorry if it seemed I implied that. Suffice it to say that a great majority of bail enforcement agents fall into the "thug" category and the ones you described above are few and far between unfortunately.

I didn't take it as an implication - just included that as a light-hearted statement since SOCNET seems to be a touchy place lately:D
