Hi all

I am atempting to complete a research paper on the history of US SpecOps and the changes in warfare which make specOps a viable fighting force capable of swaying the tides of victory in warfare. I have read various first hand accounts such as "Rogue Warrior" and "Combat Swimmer" and one called "Hunters and Shooters". All were excelant first hand accounts of ops in nam and others and helped my general understanding of unit composition, use, and the mechanical operation of these units, however I am Having Some difficulty finding a good "Historical" reference to fill out the info needed for say a 10-15 page report on the topic.
My appologies for the lack of excitement spurred by my post but any response would be greatly apreciated by a student in dire need of assistance.

Thanks,
Bret

If you want a book on special operations swaying the tide of war... read Capt. Bill McRaven's "Spec Ops: the theory of Special Operations" I think that is the title. It is a great read and has pleanty of international historical refrences.

Check out J.F.K.'s contributions to not only the Green Beret's but the Seals too, (Roy B)-And also check out the original "Roger's Rangers" who spent good times living off the land in New England during the winter wearing animal skin's and killin' the enemy.

...And just for the heck of it, imagine George Washington pulling some snoop & poop, yup that guy actually had bowling balls for gonads. Spec-ops goes just a little further back than the 'nam . Some accounts have George doing severe damage with knife & fist!

Don not read Joel Hutchins's book, Swimmers among the trees: SEALs in the Vietnam War.
Accordinng, to www.navyseals.com, (http://www.navyseals.com,) Joel was a
Navy corpsman.
Brett, go to the library and check the shelf SOF is at UA256 (I think) and for most public library, 356 to 359. Also check your library's online database (PAIS, Historical Abstracts, Magazine Index, Newspaper Abstracts, etc).
