Hey guys i had a thought today... I know I know thinking is bad... but here it is. Do you think as gunnabes and BTDTs that the sfas requirements will go up? I notised that the SEALs had a very hard program and they took guys off the street. Do you think that something like the 6th week of BUD/s will appear in SFAS? Or is there already something like that there... I don't know. I may be being stupid so if you think this is a question by a guy that has too much time on his hands say it. I want any kind of feed back. I know that I am opening myself to flame but it is a simple question for 18xers and BTDTs. Thanks ( i know i am rambeling)

You mean a gut check, something like...say, Team Week? Nah, we need to get rid of that to spend more time teaching soft skills how to do long range land nav after they get to Selection. Wait a minute...

Unless we have a SFAS Cadre on this board who is willing to talk, you are not going to find out what your SFAS class is going to do or when they're going to do it with anyone here.

SFAS changes like the wind. I talk to guys who work there and they intentionally change things so candidates don't know what to expect.

You can have a vulcan mind melt down worrying about things totally out of your control if you let it.

Use the nervous pre-fight jitters in the gym or on the trail training to complete SFAS.

Do the best you can.

But if there was, your question would be a good example...

Give me 2 minuites and i could find you a stupider question...
sorry i didn't look before posting and i found my answer.
and now i am asking another one.
Do you think that SFAS would ever adopt something like "hell week" (except minus the swimming) to increase the output of qualified soldiers in a shorter amount of time?

P.S. I am really trying not to be an ass here but this question kinda nags me...
P.P.S. i'm not worrying i have 3 years and then some. I am curious. sorry if this is really annoying.

Thanks Chris, all is fine. Time does have a way of coming around very quickly. When do you ship out?

Take care.

Even an ex-REMF pogue like myself understands the differences between the missions of SEALs and the missions of SF, and the fact that adding a BUD/S-like "Hell Week" to SFAS wouldn't produce a "qualified" SF soldier.

P.S. Tracy, LMAO!

Speaking of qualified soldiers - a few months ago we were taking a little road trip and were up N & W of Ft Bragg on 4 lane when out of the field comes this soldier. He starts walking down the side of a major highway. I said that wasn't very tactical. Or maybe he's lost or has a problem and we should stop.
Well, Husband Dearest being the sympathetic sort starts laughing and says the guy most likely has just quit the course is is looking for somebody to give him a ride home.

Hey Doc,

I leave June 13! 74 days man. It came so fast like you said it would. I already have prom, and then a couple of weeks later graduation! It's all turning into a blur, but I love it. I can't wait to get it all started. I've also been studying the ol' A&P like you said. I'm no expert yet, but I am trying. Its all interestig so far. Well, I don't wanna blabber on too long so I'll close it up now. Oh, aren't you almost done? I remember you saying something about when I go in it will almost be time for you to get out or something like that. It's been awhile since we last talked anyway. Well talk to you soon.

Take care

Hey there Mr. Popular. You sent me a prive message! Well, when you ask questions and expect an answer, try emptying your friggin' PM folder!

It said your shit was full. I took the time to reply, and then it said you couldn't accept my message. I guess you're a pretty popular dude.

To answer your question short and sweet:

NO, don't go in the guard! You want active duty? Go active duty!!! The guard will not help you out or help make up your mind. They are two totally different entities.

Want to go to college before the army? Then do it! But, I recommend going army first. Sure, your state may pay for college, but after active duty you can double dip by getting national guard tuition assitance from the state while at the same time getting your full GI Bill benefits. That's what I did, and while I hated the guard with a passion, the free schooling (when it worked) was awesome. Hopefully you're not in Virginia, or if you are, hopefully my letter to the AG helped fix the broken program.

Not a lot of time...

What I'm saying about double dipping with tuition benefits is that just because you get state tuition assistance (MA is 100% BTW) for being in the guard, you're GI Bill/Army College Fund is still good. YOU can double dip while in college because the Tuition Assistance is from STATE and GI Bill/ACF is Federal.

If you go active, you'll get something like $50K for GI Bill/ACF, which on a monthly basis while in school is over $1,000 a month, TAX FREE. It doesn't go to the school, it goes straight into your account.

The state shit goes to the school only. I lived off the GI Bill for most of my college career, all 6 years of it, and I ain't no Doctor. Hell, after college I still had some money left over so I took the EMT course at the community college which was a 6 credit course, plus labs and CPR totalling 8, I got 50% of my GI Bill which is like $600 a month.

GO ACTIVE!!!

Actually they have a "Heaven Week" and you get to sleep in and eat as much as you want in your nice warm dry soft easy chair. Then nude ROTCies (female) play out any fantasy you want while giving you a foot massage. You also get to select your ruck bearer for the land nav course at this time. At least that was the way it used to be. I apologize to my peers for the violation of opsec, but these newbies should know exactly what is in store for them at camp "Heavenly".
