View Full Version : Air Force Special Ops
Popular Mechanics article (http://www.popularmechanics.com/science/military/2002/4/air_force_special_ops/) on Air Force Special Ops with a couple good photo's.
The article is good, but I wanted to clarify one issue that I think they have incorrect.
The easiest way to become a Combat Controller or Pararescueman is NOT by joining another service (as stated in the article). Let me know if I need to clarify this statement.

I would also like to clarify something...
"We are the Air Force's only ground combat force," says Capt. Mike Martin, chief of current operations for AFSOC's 720th Special Tactics Group (STG). "There are some base ground defense units, but we go forward."
I guess TACPs/ETACs are controlling all of those air strikes from the rear (so to speak). You can only be silent and professsional for so long before you have to say bullsh*t. Anyway, for the record, there are other AF ground combat forces (operators) besides controllers, PJs, and cops. Nothing against my CCT brothers, but square your Capt. away.
LOL,
