Gunner,
Actually in the Air Force, it is called AFSC not MOS. Personally, I wouldn't recommend showing up to selection with an alternate career in mind. To me, that is like preparing to quit. If you still choose this route, you should probably pick becoming a cook. That way you will be further motivated to complete selection. When the thought enters your mind to quit (and it will), you will see yourself dressed in white, washing lettuce, and/or flipping eggs in some chow hall. If that isn't motivation to continue, I don't know what is.
Good luck!

Take a look at http://www.specialtactics.com or http://www.pararescue.com

Your AFSC choices (should you fail) are usually VERY limited.

well ive checked out the Special tactics but the pararescue link keeps sending me to the store they got. But anyway I talked with my recruiter and he said I have to have an origional AFSC decided before I try out for pararescue. I at first thought of SFs but I dont think its right for me...any of you guys know what AFSC I can have that puts me in a weapons specialist category? Sorry to put you guys in this hassle but my recruiters goin in for surgery so I cant easily talk to him for advice.

By the way no offense to any security forces out there I just have my own reasons for refraining from that job.

I might be wrong cause they might have changed it.. but you should be able to enlist as a PJ. If u fail, you will probably then go in as Security Forces. If u go to www.specialtactics.com you'll find forums there and also the site has a lot of imformation about PJs and CCT. If u want info about SF go to the forums at
http://www.airforcesecuritypolice.com lots of good SPs there.

MEP is right on the money. If your recruiter doesn't know that you can enlist GTEP in Pararescue then he either needs to get educated, or you need to get another recruiter (I once went through 5). This is important to you because there is money involved. It is also important for the recruiter, because he obviously doesn't know that he will get double credit if you make it through PJ school. Go back to the specialtactics.com site, this is a PJ site, the link you were clicking was for shirts and stuff. Special tactics is PJ's (and CCT). Research this entire site. If you want to really be a PJ you will pore over this with a fine glove because it does answer 99 percent of the questions guys like you probably have. If not, the forum area is to ask questions (there is a STGP recruiter that checks the site every now and then, he is the definitive expert on enlisting to become a PJ). Good luck to you, and remember "They can kill me, but they can't eat me."
