I am currently training for SWCC and would like to know if I may need to get prepaired to crossrate.

Thanks for the information in advance.

IT was never a source rate, RM used to be but as of yet IT is not a source rate the only SWCC source rates are :BM,QM,GM,EM,ET,DC, and EN These are the only source rates. But as a first termer you have at lest 5 years after graduating to crossrate. The only thing a source rate does is enable you to be closed loop. And since your first SWCC sea tour is 5 years you have that long to make your mind up. But in order to stay in the community you will have to crossrate but it is an easy thing to do.

IT is now a source rating for SWCC. This info from ETC Paul Yates, and EMCS Warrlemann. More new SWCC source rates: IC, HT, MM, and SM.

That's a Roger, and the bonus for going HM in SWCC is quite big. Will be shipping out on 7 June as an HM.

I'm pretty sure, maybe somebody can correct me if I'm wrong, but source rates are important when you want to close loop with the SBU correct? ie..you can have any rate when going to SWCC, but you will have to agree to cross rate into a source rating if you want to stay with the units after your first sea tour?

Thank again for your time.

Thanks for the good info.
Could any of you guys, that are in the know, tell me when this info will be placed on the web on the warning order that can be found at bupers.navy.mil in the community managers area.

Also, are there waivers available for second class swimmer?

Thanks again,

If you can't pass the 2nd class swim test, maybe you shouldn't be so close to the water... no offense here - just pointing out safety.

I was having some difficulty getting into the class here at pearl. I have however gotten scheduled for the test in a couple of weeks.
Regarding the above questions about info on the net changing I have seen the latest 'Link' magazine. My questions were answered there.
