When looking at the other services I see that officer's in SOF are there to train and lead and rarely get to go out on real world missions. Does the same hold true for officers in the Seals.

When deployments arrive Officers go...those with desk jobs don't get to ship off for 6 months and your probably only taking a small percentage of SpecOps officers...Any small unit normally has 1 officer per squad 2 per platoon sometimes this isn't so but it is the norm from what I've seen and heard so they do go out into the real world...

what does it take to become an officer in the SEALs is it any harder to get then another rank? is it worth the time to become an officer? I'm still kind ok new to this whole military ranking system.

Gee Nissan, you seem to know a lot about being a Naval Special Warfare Officer. Where do you get your info from?
As a Spec War officer for over 18 yrs, I can tell you SEAL officers routinely deploy up to the rank of Captain. They lead the Task Groups, CDRs lead the Task Units, and LTs lead 16 man Platoons/eight man squads.
It's as operational as you what to be. Being behind a desk is just part of the job. I still teach MFF and am in the PT circle daily. See you on the swim. Our leadership is forward.

Frog I get it from all over much of it is hearsay which isn't the best but its info, I was also looking into becoming a officer in the Teams so I studied up on that when I had the chance...I know the Officers still go on Dets and hit the PT circle etc but the Operational tempo gets toned down alot from what I understand..keep in mind I'm not a SEAL and I'm going from what I'm told so if I'm wrong correct me...if there is a mistake I apologize but this is what I understand to be true and I will treat it as such until told otherwise.
PS I'm not trying to start a arguement just putting in my .02$
