I couldn't help but notice that there seems to be a gene that all teenagers are lazy and greedy. this is not totally true. The only time I ever use electronics is at school. And if we did go to war with North Korea or China I would gladlly volunteer even if I am only 15. I don't care if I was the fucken water boy as long as I got to help my country. Besides tracking trough a jungle with a 90lbs ruck sack and a rifle wouldn't be that different from my regular life anyways. Except for the addition of hostiles(thats a big one). Even though I want to be a SEAL after I get out of college I would gladlly go fight for my country. I know I represent a minority of mast teenagers but please don't generalize all of us. Especially you (Bmf)
My apologies for the generalization. I make these assumptions based on fact. Because of my real life assignment in the U.S. military,
I have been brought in contact with tons of young kids who scream they'll never quit (they're too hardcore)to their buddies -but in reality, they aren't prepared to do all the WORK that comes along with these jobs. I'm sure you may routinely carry a 90lb. ruck (my hats off- I prefer taking my truck)But I'd say most of the kids today just don't appreciate all that the military offers. (It's very easy to sound hardcore from a living room.)

Hey, you have a point. It is easy to sound hardcore from your computer, that's why we shouldn't put much, if any, trust in what is said in these forums. But I agree with him. I may be 15, foolhardy, and full of s***, but damned if I wouldn't die with a gun in my hand if there was an invasion. (in all reality, I would probably be smeared all over the woods by a flurry of bullets if I tried that, but hey, at least I'd try). :-)
BMF,
Wasn't that what the kid said down at school after he lost his arm? "At least I tried". Did he cut the red wire or the blue? I get so confused these days.

Yes I agree with you bmf it is easy to sound gun ho when no one can see you.. I realize that there is a bunch of SHIT work involved in being in the military and even if it isn't what the lieing recruters tell you it is going to be, but.. If I make a commitment I'll stick to it. regardless (thats somthing my parents taught me) Besides I kinda feel obligated to serve my country.. especially when I talk to my Grandfather. He was in
WW II and I'm sure almost every bodies family in one way or another helped in that war, and many died. I think it is the least we can do..
If any of you have seen the movie "The Rock", you will know where I got this..... LOSERS whine about "trying their best". WINNERS go home and f*ck the prom queen.
In other words....Dont "try your best". DO WHATEVER IS NECESSARY TO SUCCEED.
(To avoid future questions, NO, I am not in the military...YET. I went this week to get the ROTC application process started.)

Wrath-
Your motivation is commendable. Perhaps if others in your peer group held the same beliefs, our military would be even better.
Check my post titled "reality" (way down at the bottom)for some other interesting things I've seen since I joined the U.S. Navy.
