Help...

I ran into two sources, one claiming "Blue Light" to be, then Col. Montell's hasty response team, formed from within the SF community (5th Special Forces Group at Bragg), and another claiming it to be an effort to form a cohesive U.S. Army Rangers, Special Forces and U.S. Navy SEAL counter-terrorist effort. It should all date back to the early '70s.

So what gives........

The first "source" is correct. Blue Light was unit made up of Special Forces soldiers to fill the counterterrorism gap while Delta was standing up.

Blue Light was an interim CT force until Delta took over. There were sour grapes over the issue because we thought we were doing pretty good. Hindsight being 20/20, the Delta decision was the right one.

Blue Light actually evolved into other very beneficial programs that still exist 21 years later.
