I am a corpsman and I am up for orders. I was looking into the SBU's and I am very interested. I was wondering if this would be a good move for me? Thanx!

No one can make that choice but you. But if you do decide to go to SWCC you'll have the time of your life and i think there is no better place in the Navy. But as far as will it be a "good move" for you that all depends on what you want. But i'll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Squall, since you seem to be the one to ask about most things SWCC, Once a person is done with SWCC training, do they have multiple routes to choose from or do they go to a certain type of unit? (i.e. SBU) Also, approximatly how much time does a SWCC member spend at sea? I've recived some very conflicting information on SWCC trying to scour the bullsh*t from the real deal.

there are only 3 units 20 (east coast) and 12 (west coast) are coastal ops (ribs & MKVs) 22 is the only riverine unit with a world wide comitment. and you chose your orders after your package has been approved. And as far as how much time you spend at sea it all depends on your definition of "at sea" a sea tour for a SWCC is 5 yrs. i'm not really sure what your asking.

I'm trying to figure out how long I will actually go 'out to sea' for extened periods of time, as if I was assigned to a ship, away from home port. (i.e. moving around in the ocean away from the usa), Also what do you mean by, choose my orders, when my package is approved? what package?
btw thanks for all the info squall, i really appreciate it

Boat guys don't go out to sea for extended periods of time we fly our boats to a forward operating base for 6 months and do ops out of where we are operating from. The only time we go onto a ship is when something is going down and they need us out somewhere and even then we only operate until the op or exersise is over. in order to get SWCC you must first enlist under the SWCC Challenge or if your already in submit a SWCC package to get accepted and that pckage goes to the detailers and once your package has been accepted the detailer cuts you orders to a unit that needs you the most.

Ahh, thanks for clearing that up, I did enlist in the SWCC challenge, shipping to great lakes Nov 11. unfortunatly thats the soonest they could get, but I'm taking advantage of the time to get into shape. I hear I'll need it.
