Is the AF EOD career field open to officers, or is it an enlisted-only job? If is it open to officers, is it possible to enter the field immediately after OTS or do you submit some sort of application after some time in the service?

Does anyone know of quality resources on the web re: AF EOD? I've done some searches on Google, but it seems that many of the pages are no longer functioning.

Thanks very much for your help.

Not to bust your balls bro, but you had to pass the USAF EOD board to get to this one...it's under the AFNET heading, do a search from the beginning and you will probably find someone has already had this question answered for them. Good luck.

Well this is not a "Navy" nor "Army" EOD site either. A long time a go when I asked Tom Hunter to make an EOD forum, I specifically asked him to not make it service specific. We all go to the same school, we all wear the same badge, and we all share the same memorial. In the opening weeks of operations in Assghanistan it was common to find truly "joint" EOD work. You had teams comprising an AF Master SGT, Marine SSGT, and Navy Petty Officers. We are a joint community.

Now that I have said all of this let me end my rant with the fact that the Navy has the best EOD techs, who are smarter, stronger, and better loking than all of the other services.

As far as your question goes, the answer is yes you can come to EOD after OTS. You will have to have a engineering degree and be part of CE. (that's who EOD falls under in the AF). Look in to going CE outta OTS and you should find the lead to EOD. I would also call the nearest EOD unit and talk with their Officers.

I am not sure why they left the AF EOD forum up. It doesn't get much traffic. IMHO I think they have way too many frigg'n forums.
