ALF= animal liberation front

They are tree hugging animal rights activist groups that use severe direct action politics such as hurrassment, violent disobedience, arson, bombings, vandalism, ect.

I'll talk to my buddy this weekend. He's been on their (ELF) web-site quite often. They change it frequently. He accesses it because it contains things like:"How to make bombs". They communicate mostly via Public Library Internet but I'm sure that they are creative about even that. ELF has a presence just north of me in Santa Cruz,CA and I may know people who know people so I'll ask around. I've stayed away mainly because with my luck I'll get photographed with one of those asshole by the FBI or something.

These guys are sharp, young, outdoor types. What I do know mostly comes from 60 Minutes the rest comes from my friend although I don't know to what, if any, extent he's with these clowns. (Hopefully he's just over curious).

True story:

About two months ago I'm in the local library surfing the net for Italian swimsuit models and this guy sits down at the terminal next to me. At one point I glance over at his terminal and see that he's pulled up the ELF web-site and is jotting something down. I shrug and go back to my babes but I look back over and he's now on the CIA website. Hmmm... Now I've got to see what this guy is up to. He then hits one of the Alt-F keys and brings up a second window on his screen. This screen then fills with some kind of code or encryption langauge. Then he hits a few more keys, makes a few more notes and logs off. Boom, he's gone.

Now I'm much more paranoid these days so I might be reading something into this but I don't think so.

Sorry to ramble, I'll get back here Monday with more info.

These clowns are seriously mental. They refer to animals "Nations" (i.e. The Mink Nation, The Deer Nation etc...) You have to skew your ideas about terrorism as we know it for them because they absolutely refuse to hurt anyone physically. Thier attacks have historically been preceeded by probes and thorough recon/evaluation. In more than one case, they broke into facilities once or twice a week for several months stealing documents and copying them, then returning them that same night so they knew exactly where to go, and what items of importance there are when they decide to trash the place. They like to burn buildings (like Mink Farms) and trash labs. They were very active in the Oregon/Washington State area a few years ago.

They are "Invitation Only" and don't go out looking for new members.

From what I read, they are decentralized (no C3) and operate in small independant cells, making them very hard to track. A good comparison of organization would be skinhead groups.

That's right, the ELF/ALF has no Osama Bin Laden. They are allegedly supported by PETA (who also act as thier spokespeople).

And yes, they are very offended when you eat citizens of the "Cow or Chicken Nations." But then, they are offended by just about anything that isn't totally in step with their view of the world. Read the FAQ page on peta.org to get a glimpse of these people thought processes. Pay attention to the comments about converting the masses. You will be floored.

The ALF originates from Great Britain and the ELF is an 'offshoot' of the original 'movement'. So the ALF should be considered an international 'organization'...

The ELF is actually the Earth Liberation Front and they are indeed violent. They have cells that spread from Long Island to California and they have no quams about collateral damage. They are responsible for several fires that have caused death (usually they torch dealerships) but they have not ouright "assasinated" for their cause. Regardless they are still a bunch of douchbags. Craig Rosebraugh has stepped down as there spokesperson but I do not know who has replaced him. I remember while I was in Portland in April 2001 they had a big deal where the FBI raided his house after a dealership in that area was firebombed.

ELF/ARF....... Sound like a bunch of faries to me....I have met a few of their kind, they usually end up sucking pudding through a straw for six months......anyhoo. They do work in cells as has previously been stated. I hope they dont get organized, if they do it could really be a very ugly thing. I have heard they are trying to get organized but can ya believe it, they are so used to arguing about things they cant get their act straight enough to actually agree on what, when, who and where. Can we say clusterfuck......

I actually did my research report for a class on evironmental terrorism and learned quite a bit about the ELF. They were the ones that torched the houses in vail and caused about $12 million in damages.

Something else I found was that the ELF is considered to be the largest domestic terrorist group in the U.S.

Just watched a documentary about the ELF.

Funny how Rosebraugh himself has an SUV and stated that if a act causes casualties to humans that it would not be an ELF strike....good way to wash their hands sorry ass punks.

read the article in the paper about the "attacks" in cali! they ELF burned a few suvs at a few dealerships, just a thought, the amount of poisons and toxic fumes released into the air from a burning car!
