i know that the missions of Force Recon and SEALs Are similar. I was just wonderin as to how their training differs and who is more "qualified" to do certain things. Also i was wondering as to how they are used in time other than war operations....in other words who would get the job when a low intensity conflict arose?
I know I am asking a difficult question that may seem foolish and i know there will be biased answers but all info is appreciated

Wonderboy,
Mr Hunter has gone to a lot of time and effort to collect an incredbile amount and variety of information for his webpages. There are literally dozens of links that will tell you everything you could ever want to know about SEALs and Marine Reconnaissance. Read these yourself then you'll understand what the differences are.

A lot of the general training in Special Operations units overlaps, who would get say a takedown mission probably depends on whos closest to the scene of the crime and any other specialitys, like if its waterborne insertion then SEALs make sense, if its one big vehicle depot then Rangers make sense, etc.
After looking through all the info that Mr. Hunter has gathered, I am still left with the same question that "Wonderboy" asked. How do the SEALs and Force Recon compare. They both are trained very similarly, in waterborne insertion, among other things. For example, it is pretty obvious as to when you would use Green Berets rather than SEALs, or Rangers rather than SEALs, but since the FR and SEALs have such similar characteristics, it is hard to distinguish when one would be used over the other.
Look at the SEAL’s at America’s high-speed waterborne force and look at FR as the Marines high-speed waterborne/land unit.
FR exists to support the MEF (Marine Expeditionary Force) that is what we are here for.
You want to know whom they’re going to call? Well does the MEF need info or help? No! Well then, FR isn’t going.
