Soldier dies in Bosnia
A staff report
A Fort Bragg Special Forces soldier was found dead in his room in Bosnia Dec. 30, officials confirmed Thursday night.
The death of Sgt. 1st Class James Darryl Golleher, a 17-year veteran, is under investigation, said officials with the U.S. Army Special Operations Command.
Golleher, a native of Jacksonville, Fla., had been deployed to Bosnia with Bravo Company, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer of Fayetteville and a son Zachary of Ashland, Ky.
No other information, including Golleher’s age, was available Thursday.
3rd GRP has guys in Bosnia? Isn't that 10th's AO?

Hard pressed on my right. My center is yielding. Impossible to maneuver. Situation excellent. I am attacking.

Not that this is cloak and dagger stuff, but I believe a great deal of opsec should be sprinkled on this topic until the Army lets the cat completely out of the bag.

I know some guys who went there (I couldn't wait around to go) they started talking about it in 92 and when I ETS in Dec93' they were still talking about it, Thank GOD I didn't wait It wasn't until 95-present that 10th GRP went. What is a 3rd Grp guy going to bring that someone from 10th doesn't have? Also do 3rd Grp have Mountain /Snow/Ski etc.. teams or just Ruck teams I don't know of a lot of places in Africa/Carrib that you can ski:)

Btm,
FYI: 10th Group supported Operation Provide Promise/ Deny Flight, which began in late 92/93. The Dayton agreement was signed in late 95, which began 10th Groups Support of IFOR.

whisky8: I'm sure your right (you sound like an 18 so I always defer) I guess I was talking about a BN or group wide deployment like Provide Comfort(thats the only way I was going to go unless the company I was in was rotated, as supply I'm Not Quite as important as a 18Z RTBECDS ...:))). Was 92-93 Operation Provide Promise/ Deny Flight only 1st BN and they rotated companies. I remember hearing about something like that then. Memory fades with 2 kids, jobs and time Plus I program for a living so my head is filled with some much jumble that I can sometimes only remember last year.:)
I worked some with these guys while I was in Bosnia. Am basicly trying to find out what the outcome was for the rest of the team. Feel free to shoot me an E-mail at Demodiver@yahoo.com.
My condolences to the Chapman family.
Just watched a Larry King interview with the slain SF trooper's parents- the guy left a wife and two kids, and his dad was Air Force. His mom found out when a Chaplain and another officer knocked on the door- terrible. The guy just wanted to be a "Green beret." At least he died doing what he loved, serving his country. His remains are being transported and the funeral is on Friday.
On CNN- as the honor guard soldiers marched, carrying his flag-draped casket down the transport, I overheard a fellow soldier comment "SF isn't so badass after all..." It was all I could do to prevent from throwing his on-profile ass out the window; but I did say something to the effect of 'at least he's risked his ass out there, which is more than any of us can say." The MI fools I have to deal with...
