This has been discussed for years. With Israel allowing gobs of lightly-armed Egyptians into the buffer area to patrol vic. Gaza, the need for a large MFO presence is obviated somewhat.

From what I saw when I was there (MFO rotation 37), Israel could care less if we stay there or not. The Egyptians just want people who can and will spend lots of money

That's pretty much the impression I got. I think having the MFO in the area gives the Israelis and Egyptians a reason not to fight. Sharm and Nama Bay were pretty good examples of capitalism in action.

Yes it is. I had a blast there back in 91-92 with TF 4/87. Hell, they even have a real Hard Rock Cafe there now....on top of all those 5 Star resorts and hot looking German/Isreali Tourists..... :D

Sharm and Nama Bay were a blast, but you missed the boat if you didn't make it up to the village of Dahab. Extremely cheap and tons of Euro chicks looking for a good time. Red Devil Task Force, Jan - Jul 93.

Did quite a few MSR patrols up to Dahab and Checkpoint 3A. Nothing like going into Eliat and bringing porn back for the base at base camp......and looking at hot Euro Chicks at both places. :D

I was there for two years and was a Blue Hole addict, and never saw any of those.

I saw lots of nasty drugged-up Eurotrash that would fellate you for the price of a hasish bowl. I saw lots of those.

I'm getting the chance to look again, though.
