Someone told me that the Army now has a citizenship program where you can get citizenship after 6 months instead of the 5 years it takes as a civy. I am ex 2/75 Ranger Reg't, now in Canadian military and I am considering going back in in the US. As I am a Canadian Indian, I can get a green card no probs, which is how I was in 2/75, but not citizenship, which is why I had to leave 2/75 (long story)
I also dont know if my being in the CDN army would affect me secutiy clearance in the US, I know there were others in 2/75 that used to be in the CDN militia, but that was in 96'.
I am speaking with a recruiter now, but he is quite perplexed by all of it, as well as most recruiters I have spoken to.
Thanks for any help you guys can give me,
Sua Sponte

Cree, I can't address most of your post, but I don't think the Canadian citizenship should pose a problem with your clearance. As was stated in another thread, a guy I was in the Army with (we were both 98C SIGINT analysts with TS/SCI blah blah blah clearances) had dual citizenship in both the U.S. and Canada, and his mother was a Canadian only citizen. He had spent most of his time growing up in Canada, and he apparently had no problems obtaining a clearance. I think if you can get citizenship vice green card, you shouldn't have a problem as far as that goes.

you have to serve 3 years in the military as aposed to 5 years just living here as a civilan. but when it does come time to apply, your application is sent through much quicker.

The recruiters I know aren't familiar with that possible program but there are some other programs that could possibly expedite your citizenship. They depend on your immigration status and (since your ex-mil) your reenlistment code on your DD214. Evidently there are some obscure programs that only a few know about. A better way might be to ask people you know within the SOF community. I can send you to some people if you're still serious about it. They might be able to help you. R/wcollar

I have a relative that used grant visas to foreign citizens based on their intelligence worth to the US.
The relative says "Never heard of Citizenship in Six Months"; in or out of the Army.
I had a Canadian on my Team (my Intel Sgt) that got his citizenship while in SF. He had about 7 years in when he came over to the Dark Side. I think 3-5 years TIS is the norm.
Sorry to crap on your cornflakes...

Its three years of active military service or service in a combat zone during a time of war.

But you still need a greencard, to get into any of these programs?
