A picture of the desert cammies and wearer with one of my all-time favorite weapons:

And another:

What a horrible weapon for desert ops. The SD was the most irratible with regards to functionality also.

Great pics, where did you find them? I don´t know exactly about the KSK using the MP-5SD, but the german Kampfschwimmer (Frogmen) use it for sure. Maybe it´s a Kampfschwimmer, I´ve heard that some of them went to Afghanistan to support the KSK.

Well, just checked the original source of the upper pic: Last modified on february 25th 2001, so certainly NOT a german operator in Afghanistan...

The first picture, and some others I've seen of Germans in the desert, are from a Bright Star exercise in 2001 in Egypt.

The second picture is a close-up of this one:

Here are a couple more from Bright Star:

And, with a French soldier and another favorite weapon of mine:

That is some sweet looking camo pattern. So is the "woodland" Flecktarn, whatever its called.

Looks like a "I try your weapon and you try mine"-contest.
I wonder why there is no "commercial" version of the german desert-camo available in shops until now.

NBC Defense troops from the 10th Panzer Division participated earlier this year in an exercise in Kuwait with US Marines as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Herewith some pics (from the 10. Pz.Div. web site (http://www.10panzerdivision.de/)):

Dave, are you having a special relationship to germany?

I am having a special relationship with Germany...actually with a German girl, who lives in Mannheim. :)

Other than that, well... I am German-American, I spent some time in Germany while I was in the Army and I studied law at Rupprecht-Karls-Universität in Heidelberg. I also have a few friends in the Bundeswehr, including the chief of staff of the DSO/KLK, who used to be the German liaison officer at Fort Benning.

I am going to Germany on Monday. I happened on some of these pictures while looking for some information on places and people to visit. A German equivalent to this forum - http://www.sondereinheiten.de/forum/index.php - had a discussion of the Wüsten-Flecktarn, which prompted me to start this thread.

mfG,
Dave

Have a nice trip!

A friend of mine that I met via SOCNET lives in Mannheim, unfortunately he doesn´t visit SOCNET very often, so you will likely not know him.

KSK and KS do use the MP5SD.

Anyway the guy on the pic on top is a employee of a company selling Arktis equipment with the new german desert-camo-pattern holding an Airsoft MP5SD... ;)

The guy below is not a German (he is using an M4) but som US Operator using Kraut cammies...

The weapon he is carring is a C8 (M96) with a ACOG scoope, a Visible light, a AN/PEQ-2 and a RIS.
So far I know, the german special forces dont use C8

And is infact a danish uniform he is waering. Ther are no green colours on the german uniform, you can see ar little green on his left sleeve.:)

And at last, I have seen the whole serie of fotos;)

Best regard
