.
During the early morning hours of 26 May, at Raeford DZ, personnel will
marshall for the 2nd SOG HALO Memorial Jump, in memory of all men a KIA from
SOG and Special Forces during the RVN war; as well as those SF men, special
projects men KIA thereafter.
Assembling for the Memorial Jump will be the combat jumpers from SOG'S
CCN Recon Company, and we hope CCC's Recon Company. The SOG vets, now a bit
long in tooth, will perform from 12.5K' as to all HALO means 12.5K' or above.
We will not wear the gear and equipment worn during this means of insertion
into the combat zone in 1970 and 1971 along the Ho Chi Minh Trail, as we
attempted to enter the combat zone undetected.
Also jumping will be several men from the SF Purple Heart HALO team,
and friends from an intelligence unit.
LTG Doug Brown has indicated he will attend this jump, as has LTG Bill
Tangney from JSOC.
We invite all SF personnel; along with their families, as well as
others, out to Raeford DZ, to visit with these SOG personnel (ages 54 - 72
years) as we HALO for our fallen comrades.
All personnel will remain in the Fort Bragg area for the SFA Memorial
Day Picnic on 28 May; where we will, with our other SFA members, formally
salute our men who are now absent in body, but so very present in our minds.

. The drop is laid on for 1000, 26 May, at Raeford Drop Zone. That is
Jean-Paul Thackers Drop Zone, where the U.S. Army Team practices.

This jump is our "every-two-year Memorial jump, to celebrate inserts
into combat by HALO." We are dedicating this jump to Memorial Day, and to
all of the SOG personnel, as well as SF personnel KIA in RVN, and there
after. Not just to those KIA by HALO, but KIA period. We are old, but we
are able.

Jumping witll be the HALO combat jumpers of SOG CCN, who celebrate
their 30 year anniversary of inserts along the Ho Chi Minh trail in 1970 and
1971. Also jumping will be a group named the SF PURPLE HEART HALO Team.
Those guys asked me if they could jump with us, and of course I told them
hell yes, but on a separate lift.

Will be a lot of guys, including one or two of the boss bosses. ***
Doug Brown (Boss of all SF at Bragg), and *** Bill Tangney (DCO of SOCOM in
McDill), have related to me, they will attend the Raeford DZ Drop.
We ask all of our friends to attend, and wish to meet with all of our
friends before and after the jump.

To get to the Raeford DZ, drive south on 401, and look to the right (west
friends) when you are just north of Raeford. There will sit J.P. Thacker's
Drop Zone, a lot of planes, and some old men gathered up to honor SF and SOG.
PS. If there is a wx delay for 26 May, we will 24-hour the drop until 27
May, same place, same time, 1000 hrs.
Thanks and take good care. Billy Waugh D222L
