Following my Dad's axiom that a man can never have too many knives or flashlights, I am looking to get him a SureFire light for Christmas. Can anybody offer feedback on them, size, convenience, nice features etc.
The models I'm looking are the small frame variants 6P etc. an offer a 65 or 120 lumen lamp. However, the battery life looks pretty low.
Any good retailers would be great too.
Any help is appreciated
Thanks,
Scott

Well, it's too late for X-mas, but you might want to check out http://www.candlepowerforums.com/
I have both a Streamlight Scorpion (http://thelightsite.cruxial.com/reviews/streamlight_scorpion.htm) and Surefire 6P. My preference is for the Scorpion, because
1) The Scorpion costs about 1/2 to 2/3 of what the Surefire does, and at the rate I (used to) lose/break flashlights, cost is an issue, and
2) the bulb on the Scorpion can be replaced ($5), whereas the Surefire lights are fixed-focus, so you have to replace the entire lamp assembly ($15). The Scorpion also comes with a spare bulb
3) The spare bulb for the Scorpion is stored in the lamp assembly, so it's there if I need it. But, after 4 years, the original bulb is still working -- so this hasn't been an issue, yet. The first two years I had this light, I was going through a set of batteries every month or two.

I have Streamlight(s) and Sure-fire lights and like them both...I believe you have to ask yourself what you will be using the light for...rechargable vs. battery, size vs. power...
If I am working eves doing a cruiser shift, I want the full size Streamlight vs. going out to dinner with just a 6P in your purse or jacket pocket so you have "light"...
What is the task is the real question...There are guns, knives and lights for all occassions...Generally I carry two of all the important things...they tend not to go south that way...Guns,magazines, knives, and lights...
I am a big fan of the Photon Micro Light III... for the money to put this on your personal key chain... I think it's one of the best over looked lights out there...YOU always have a light with you...

For patrol I prefer a Surefire 8X backed up by a Stinger in the car. Off duty a Surefire E2EHA (a great little EDC light). Try arizonagunrunners.com for Surefire needs.
