I've read something about SEALs wearing blue jeans in Vietnam. Do yall still do this? If not, when and why did you go back to complete BDUs?

?? I like corduroy. They dried up faster. Blue jeans is too heavy when wet, but very good for international clothes exchange.

From what I read in the books they were not torn up or damaged as easily as the BDU material...

Having worn jeans in the field a few times, I'll tell you I'll take BDUs over them any day, if the mission allows. Jeans take forever to dry, they're heavy, they chafe, they have a very strong smell when wet and dirty, and they're not very handy pockets-wise. As long as you don't go to the field with a worn-out, ready for the trash set of BDUs, issue uniforms should hold up well enough, and they're easy to modify. My opinion, of course.
