I originally posted this on the Ranger thread, but I think it applies here:

Gentlemen,
Throughout the current national emergency, you are going to see more posers than you have in years. Everyone with a dick, and without a spine is going to run out and get a haircut. They will be in your local clubs looking for undeserved "glory Pussy" (as opposed to earned :-) ). If these jackasses were just looking for tail, it wouldn't bother me, but these guys will proclaim military "policy, opionion, etc." Please punk these little bastards whenever possible. Don't fuck up and beat/kill one. You might be needed in the near future, and you won't do anyone any good in jail.

Check six, and stay alert.

Surplus store? 5th Avenue? If so, it's BS. If not, somebody go coin check the boy.

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that everyone seems to be an expert on terrorism and/or intelligence?

Bill Hazen. I ran into a pogue with a CIB/Star last week who told me he was with the 101st in Vn in 1963. No Korean service, He told me that he got the star in his CIB the "Same way I got my Bronze Star". Didn't the 101st get to VN in 1965? There are people wearing cammies now , who are soliciting funds for relief. the police are on to them and are arresting them in droves.
The Phonys are coming out of the wood work!

Col. Murph,

When idjits claim to me they were in the 101, I always ask what battalion. Most of them come up with single digits, the wrong format or have no idea what I'm talking about.

1st Brigade (1/327, 2/327, 2/502) arrived in Vietnam on July 29, 1965. The rest of the division didn't get to Vietnam until December of 1967.

Listen this punks dont have to fake it anymore, if they honestly want to do something them let them stop the b.s. and enlist, join up, but no, not this punks, all talk and no action. Right now we dont care if you are on a direct action platoon or a support unit, you want to do something show up, enlist and assist your country in the up comming fight. If you want to talk trash and pretent to be something you are not like an 8 year old playing soldier, them somebody should punk you out and make you grow up a little, so to all of you posers out there, put your money where your mouth is and enlist...if you really have the balls, your country is calling the time for games is over.

JR, I've had exactly the same thought. For all we know, they've just read a book or two.

There was this time a while ago....we were sitting on a carrier, watching TV while en route to Haiti and this dude named Nightingale was pontificating about the situation on CNN. Well, Mr. Donovan was there and he enlightened us with a few humorous stories about this certain ex-battalion commander whose visage we were currently seeing. And I think Nightingale was one of the more credible experts that CNN had on, by a long stretch.

Keith Nightengale was the BatCom of 1/75 when I got there. The US Flag that is sewn into the inside of my PC was given to me by him. Impressive man.

Was also the Brigade Commander when I was at RTB. We had a little chat about four HMMWV's that mysteriously appeared in my company one day with freshly spray painted bumpers...........back when you could still get away with that stuff. And oh how much I did get away with. God bless CSM Purdy and his love of initiative.
