Can an officer in a "restricted line" position still try out for a slot at BUD/S ?

It is possible. I knew a guy who was a JAG officer who went to BUD/S as a LT, but he knew people and had to bend some rules. No simple yes or no answer, it really is situationally dependent. Sorry
