Well a cadet from West Point came to my school today and talked to whoever showed up for his little show dealie about the academy. He mentioned that in a summer program he worked with some SF guys and also mentioned that it was a possible course over the summer. Im just wondering if any of you guys have ran into training with these cadet's and what have you thought of them.

We had a cadet ride along with my Team in the summer of 2000. He was a Pre-Med student at West Point and had already received a slot at USUHS upon his graduation.

I don't remember his name. He was OK. He's drinking from the firehose of knowledge right now in Med school. Wish him well.

USMA and ROTC Cadets are offered two to three weeks of "Cadet Troop Leadership Training" (CTLT) with a field unit in the summer. We had them visit us in Okinawa and at Fort Lewis. The CSM usually puts them in a junior leadership position where they can observe unit goings-on.

The Cadet Leadership Program has been going on for decades. SF and the 82d used to go to USMA for summer camp training of the cadets. Basic fieldcraft, IMT, etc.
Good group of kids, wide-eyed and real quiet.
LOL, I can remember SGM Firebee reading us the riot act before 'inheriting' a cadet for a week. He wanted him returned in the same condition we received him, virginity intact. Had to skip the "Town Pump" and Rick's Lounge...
Doesn't 10th Mountain handle the summer camp program now at USMA?

10th MTN does summer training at USMA now.
USMA cadets go for 5 weeks with a unit during the summer. I think ROTC goes for 2 or 3 weeks..
Yeah.

When I was in the Marines, I was at Fort AP Hill in Va. We actually had two West Point cadets go out for a couple days with us, along with an Army SSgt. Both of the cadets were prior enlisted Army grunts, so they fit in well. They were both Airborne and Air Assault guys as well.

As of a couple years ago, USMA cadets could also attend SFCDQC, MFF and SERE-C during their summer trainings periods as 2d and 1st Class cadets. These schools, in addition to Cadet Basic Training (CBT) and CTLT provide cadets the opportunity to interact with selected SOF units.

One option for summer training at West Point is the Combat Divers Qualification Course.

CPTKB,
SFCDQC = Special Forces Combat Diver Qualification Course, but thanks for the reaffirmation.
