Hello, everyone,

I've read a lot of books about Vietnam, and one of them was called War, by an author whose name I cannot for the life of me recall. In any case, it was a novel that detailed the experience of a Special Forces officer in Vietnam. I dont know if any of you know the book I am talking about. I remember it had to do with the Montagnards of the Central Highlands in Vietnam, and there was a major character in the book called Phillipe who wore cowboy boots and drove a motorcycle...

ANYWAYS, I really liked that book, and want to write a novel about the SF, with a story based on the current situation in Afghanistan. What I am most interested in are the little interesting details about the way a forward-operating A-team is composed, how they are equipped, what specialties they have, things like that. I need to generate characters around all these details, and I would like to get them right, more or less.

And NO I am not a terrorist wanting to gain intel on what weve got going on in Afghanistan right now!... I'm just a writer looking to put a little of the old PEN behind all the SWORD that we are swinging over there these days!! (and write a good, accurate story, too...)

Thanks in Advance! You can email me at breathtest2002@juno.com.

I believe the book you are refering to is War Story by Jim Morris.

Ahhh yes good old Jim Morris one of Jared Chandler's biggest supporters. Jim is not a bad guy just another smoe trying to get his books made into movies. He bought into Chandler hook line and sinker.

Hey folks, while we're on the subject of books written in the style of the sword so to speak. Anybody ever read any of Gayle Rivers; Five Fingers of Death, Hunters Run, etc.
Anybody familiar with his background and where he went? I've tried to find some of his books recently and a few of them are not even listed?..

that classic among classics "Operation Dumbo Drop" was based on a Jim Morris story. Actually I thought it was pretty funny, Dennis Leary and Doug E. Doug crack me up...
