What is the career progression for a SEAL officer? Commissioning, BUD/Ss then what? How much time on a platoon as an Ensign, LTJG, LT? What role do Warrant officers play, do they ever serve a assistant platoon leaders?

0-2 to 0-3 SEAL, SDV, SBU

0-4 NSWC, NSW Group staff, Navy HQ, NPS, Olmstedt Scholar

0-5 USSOCOM, SEAL, NSWC, JSOC, theater SOC staff, Joint Staff, Naval War College,

0-6 ST, USSOCOM, NSWC, staff positions

0-7 NSWC CO

When an O-1 finishes BUD/S is he automatically promoted to 0-2? How long are Navy officers at each of those ranks these days?

The normal schedule is two years to make O-2 and another two to make O-3. These time frames are pretty much set unless you really screw up along the way.
