Confused about the SWCC PFT.
The Detailer is telling me the swim is 500yd. Yet the MILPERSMAN as of OCT 2002, states a 400yd swim. Who is correct in the matter? A 400yd swim will definitely save some precious energy, for the best score possible.
Thanks, UT2

i'd prepare for 500 yd and if it ends up being 400 then you will be good.

TATTSAILOR,
The screen test used to entail a 500 yd swim. About a year ago it switched to a 400 yd swim. It just switched back to a 500 yd swim and they also are now allowing less time on the run so instead of the overly generous 13:45, you are now only allowed a generous 12:30. I think it has been updated on www.swcc.navy.mil

NREMT979,
Right now that site doesn't have anything on it. The point I am trying to make is, the MILPERSMAN is updated weekely. One group is telling me one thing, and the instruction is stating something differnt. You can submit changes to the MILPERSMAN, but until they are updated the old standands should apply. Someone is mis-communicating??

Is UT a source rating for SWCC?

no

It really doesn't matter too much about your source rate, if you have been in for a while. Right now the manning for SWCC is pretty low, the need for properly trained individuals is important. I will be forced to convert, after a year.

You don't have to cross rate until you're ready to become a 5352.//k

Re-screened last week, pft scores.
500yd swim 9:29
Push-ups 83
Sit-ups 84
Pull-ups 13
Run 1.5m 10:34
Still training for better scores, always strive to be better!
Indoor Pool will not let me use with cammies and boots. Once summer is here in DC the outdoor pool on base will let me swim in cammies.
Question, What about drounproofing? Is it the bob for 5:00, what does it consist?
Thanks, UT2

How old are you? Those scores are from a 40 year old.

I'm 28.
That is no excuse, I've only been training since Jan for this. Consider in Jan I barely met min reqs, this is a big improvement.
Thanks for the encourgement, to push on.

TATT,
Youre clearly within the minimal standards of the Boat Units. Or Teams as they are now called.
IF I were you I would put in more mileage running. Incorporate Fartlek training as well.
More swimming , focusing on 2 NMs.
And pull ups. Try to get to NSWC doing at least 25. Do lots of negatives and weighted pulls.
Good luck

Just keep pushing yourself. Buy a pair of Bates lite Durashocks (thats what you get issued in training) and run in them and swim in them.

THANKS GUYS,
Already have 2 sets of the bates for work. I run in a differnt pair I picked up on Sheppard AFB, can't remember the name but they a bit lighter than the bates.
I just submitted the package for Initial training, don't expect to be out of my command til around Sept or later. Plenty of time to get the pullups to 25, I ususally hit 18 max right now. I have been using alot of Stew Smiths workouts, pretty challenging.
Thanks again fellas, if you can think of anything else drop me a line.
