View Full Version : Women in combat?
The way the Navy is going today, I think women will have a chance to fight in combat.
Check this out, 20 or so years ago, women were not allowed to serve on Naval ships. Today, you can find women on just about any ship in the Navy (except submarines). This is a bad mistake. For one thing, pregnancy rates are up in the Navy, and men can't focus on their jobs.
Onboard my ship (USS Bridge AOE 10)half of the crew were women. I don't mean to sound like a sexual bigot, but most of these women complained their ass off. They either had a bad hair day or didn't want to get their hands dirty.
Also, 20 or so years ago, it was unheard of about women holding the title "Skipper." Today, there are two women in the fleet that I know of who are Commanding Officers of their own ship. What the fuck is this world coming to?!
This country is so damn liberal that the next war we fight, you just might have a woman right by your side in the fox hole telling YOU what to do.
As far as women SEALs, I don't think so. Most men can't make it through the training, so what makes peopole think that women can? Think about it.
then your solutions are:
run for Congress and try to pass laws further banning women in the military
or
encourage more college-bound males to join the Navy
or
try to be the Skipper with more study and more education and then kick out the women off your ships
or
join the SEALs, so far the only male Navy job there is
or
when leaving the Navy, join a company and work alongside women. You do fine since you already got the experiences - working alongside Navy women
Hey, David HM,
Point1: You say that pregnancy rates in the Navy are up now that women are allowed in the Navy? Can't argue with that at all. Male sailors don't get pregnant. ;~>
Point2: Are you saying male sailors don't complain? Then the Skipper's not doing his/her job!
Point3: Female Skippers? I have no basis to form an opinion on this point.
Point4: As long as my female CO is out front doing what she is telling me to do, I'll follow her. I expect the same from my male CO too!
My opinion: Someday we'll probably fight a war in which we will need every able-bodied adult, male and female, to save this country we love so dearly. Why not start training them now?
P.S. The decision to allow women in the military is way above our pay grade. You gonna spend your career bitching about it or working with them to help them do the job right?
David,
You say the women were complainers, just what do you think YOU are doing right now!
You seem to be a major whiner.
Let us look at something you said. "As far as women SEALs, I don't think so. Most men can't make it through the training, so what makes peopole think that women can? Think about it."
Think about this David.
Imagine the day that the first woman or women
completes BUD/S.....Just how will your male ego handle that....considering the fact (according to your own posts) that YOU proved YOU didn't have what it takes.
There were couple of students in my class who were tri-athletes. They were in top physical condition. But, for some reason, I can't understand why these guys dropped out on the second night of "Hell Week."
Now, if a woman ever graduates from BUD/S, then all I got to say is HOO-YAH! to her. But, until that day, I remain skeptical about ANY woman completing the training let alone being accepted to begin training.
Lastly, have you guys ever worked with women onboard Navy ships? If you haven't, then you don't know what I'm talking about.
Not all of the women onboard my ship complained, but majority of them did. I met some women onboard my ship that I had a lot of respect for.
When my ship went to sea trials, most of the women (who came onboard straight from boot camp) never went to sea before. All day they complained they were sick and refused to work. Just because of that, the people who were working had to work extra hours and had to stand watch twice as long for the convience of these women who were complaining.
Is this the same on other Naval ships? I have no idea.

I would imagine because of their low body fat percentage. I'm a triathlete and I'll tell yah that keeping on any body fat is hard. Especially when you train 2-3 hours on the week days and usually a 5-6 hours training session on Sat. or Sunday. I eat between 4-5000 calories a day just to keep the same body wieght.
