CNN reports that a Patrol Boat, Coastal has arrived off Sierra Lione. Folks familiar to this site know what that means...at least one squad of SEALs is in the area.
Yep, I saw it on ABC News earlier today. President Clinton does not want to repeat what happened in Mogadishu, Somalia. (Task Force Ranger) How does anyone here feel about the President waiting until British forces secure the area before sending U.S. forces in to evacuate American citizens? Any comments?
Well, Sierra Lione was a British colony. Our British friends are very familiar with SL. Beside, it is different from Somalia since the U.S. stationed forces for months and months while for Sierra Lione, it might be days and days. The CNN said that there was a SEAL team on the patrol boat, but that it's just precautionary. I think the Brits are evacuating all foreigners that want to go, and they've just about evacuated everybody that wants to leave. The UK will have plenty of troops there to handle whatever comes up - 42 Commando is on it's way to reinforce 1st Para, plus an aircraft carrier.
