Hi, I ship for Ft. Benning on 12 June, which is rapidly approaching, for basic training and infantry school or OSUT as an 11B. I spent a year in a ROTC unit, and can get a 280 or so on the PT test, but that was over a month ago. Since then, I run, a little, and lift weights alot. What should I do over the next three weeks to really get ready? Also, would it be worth the time spent to study FM 7-8 (Infantry Rifle Platoon and Squad)? I have a copy and was wondering if that is what is used at Infantry School. Thanks for any advice from you guys that have been through this recently. Also, since I am going to be in the NG until I finish college, I was told that I had no shot at Airborne school or anything Hooah like that beyond OSUT? I stupidly already signed my contract without consulting with the experts, but was wondering if there is any way I could get a shot at it. Thanks again!
Out here.

Been a few years (How time does fly!) but I will give you my two cents worth anywho! I'd
forget about everything and go out and have fun, fun, fun, till her Daddy takes the T'Bird away. If your not in an Airborne unit in the NG you can forget jump school. Relax it will be over before you know it. Good Luck.

Hey,
Been about 4 months since I posted here (considering I just finished OSUT two weeks ago). Let me tell you, Infantry OSUT at Benning just plain sucks. If you can score a 280 now, then you don't really have much to worry about. That is, except for that 25 mile road march you'll be doing in the Georgia heat, hehe. Pray you don't get sent to Delta 2/54. If God likes you, you may get 1/19 or 2/19. Remember, it's not hard, it just sucks. Oh yeah, you can read up on Battle Drill 1A (Squad Attack) from FM 7-8 because that's really the only tactics you'll learn at Infantry School. Best of luck.
