ok - I am an ex-military dweeb... I admit it.

I have a VS-17 panel cut down to size in my camel back.

when i got outof the army I pulled everything out of my butt pack and sifted through it and put some things in there like space blankets, heaters, 1st aid kit, etc. in the camel back and just left them there... just in case.

It just stayed in there for a few years. I was rooting around looking for something and my girlfriend saw it. I had to give a freaking block of instruction on what it was.

I keep a cut down one in my Camel Bak as well.

VS-17 marking pannel. Used for marking. Landing Zones, the clear lane through an obstical (mine field, wire....), Sigal to other elements of aircraft. Identification of a vehicle, friendly unit. The list is endless. I've even used it as shade while waiting to go hot on a range.

I have a patrol cap and a boonie cap with small pieces of VVS17 cut out and sewn in for close recognition signals.

Yeah, we did that shit.

I mean you do that and the next thing you are doing is closing windows to keep the draft out and picking up dropped spoons and giving them back to their users.
