View Full Version : Do you get to choose?? 1st, 2nd, or 3rd..... Batt..
I am wondering once you pass RIP if you get to choose which Batt you want to serve with... Can you get that in you contract?? LOL funny one there ah..
What is the % of getting to the Batt you want. Let's say I want to go to 1st Batt because my wif wants to live in Savannah. What are my chances of getting 1st Batt?? % wise...
Thanks in advance.

Here's a tip that MAY work:
Find a RIP NCO that is from 1/75 and make sure he knows that you really, REALLY want 1st Batt. he may put in a word for you with the 1SG there when they divvy the troops up.
If you are strack, you may have a chance. This is assuming you are an 11 series. If not, you have no little to no chance of picking anything; low-density MOS's are assigned far in advance......
Hell, if you have the balls, call CSM Mark Helton at 1/75 and get him to call the RIP compound for you and request the assignment. Be very polite and respectful - Mark is a great guy (I knew him back when he was an E6 squad leader), but be advised he is very hardcore - lots of Rangers are terrified to even speak to him. Your conversation should be short and to the point with him (as any PeeVee One talking to a Ranger CSM should be). He might hook you up, and FOR SURE feels that 1st is THE batt to be in.

I know that most of us got to go where we wanted. Everyone wants 1st batt. The beach, the women, the city, .....They even asked for volunteers to go to 3rd (no one volunteered), the nerve of them.

We didnt get to choose. They took us by last name. N-Z got 3rd. I wanted second and I only missed it by one letter. Wherever you go you will soon think its the better than all the rest. Except RGT the only people that like it there RRD. One guy in my class actually got assigned to the motor pool. I dont think he was an eleven bang bang though.

Well if that is the case.. My last name starts with S, and ig the N through Z thing applies I will be in the 3rd which doesn't bother me at all.
Why don't guys want to go to the 3rd when they were takeing voluteers as listed above??
Just wondering if it is because everyone wants to be close to the Beach and Women in 1st, or in WA for the 2nd.
Looking forward to hearing replies to these questions.

I must be a freak! I picked 3rd, and I loved it! So much in fact...I'm back at Benning. I just like Columbus. Lived in Savannah for 3 years...ehhhh...Lewis? Yeah right. Full time SCUBA needed.
Polypro
RealPolyPro,
What did you mean by "Fulltime SCUBA needed"?
You said you were in 3rd and loved it. http://www.specialoperations.com/ubboard/smile.gif) Does 1st do alittle different training in water ops then 2nd and 3rd or what. From what I understand all three Batts more or less have the same training methods.. Is that true??
How long where you with the 3rd? and Columbus is nice??
Thanks in advance Sir..

I just liked Hunter because it is a small post. Sure it's missing the major facilities and doesn't have it's own ranges, but when you leave post you don't see row after row of military people or pawn shops or strip clubs. It all depends what your in to.
