I am looking for modified SF BDU shirts in woodland or desert camo. If anyone can direct me to a web site that sells them, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Go downtown to the Army Navy store and stock up. Anything under 30 bucks for the shirt and 30 for the pants is good to go.

Well Czar, I took your advise and failed miserably. The best military surplus place here in Fort Worth didn't have a clue as to what modified BDU's are. (haha). Guess I'll keep surfin the net, I am bound to find them somewhere.

Thanks.

What about doing the mods yourself? A good uniform store, tailors, or dry cleaners should be able to do the sewing.

I have spent hours upon hours looking for what you want. Bottom line is this no body as of last fall was making them on a mass production level. Get some quality standard BDU's and have your local tailor shop hook you up. It shouldn't cost you that much.

But if you do find them drop me a line it would be much appericated.

What are SF BDUs? San Francisco quick release condom pockets?
Seriously, the only modified BDUs are those the guys do themselves to suit their specific needs. Just what are you looking for? It might help your search, if you provided more specifics....such as what sort of modifications you need.

Try specwargear.net for some pre-fabs. No warranties express nor implied as to quality.

Take the bottom two pockets off the front, (they are useless anyway if you are wearing any kind of gear and have your top tucked in) sew them on your sleeves at about a 15 degree forward angle. Don't put velcro on 'em cause they make too much noise... VIOLA!!! Modified BDU's

I couldn't find them anywhere on their site. Not that I would have ordered from them, I was just curious to see Gall's new high speed modded BDUs.

You could probably ask specwargear to custom make you one or a a local professional to make you one according to your own or specwargear-type specifications

Are Infantry allowed to wear custom "SF" BDUs?

First of all, good evening.

If you re-read your question, the answer will become obvious. Meditate on it in the lotus position until you achieve enlightenment. Either that or sign a contract for 11B, put on some of them "custom SF BDUs" and run up to your Battalion CSM and just stand there for a few minutes.

Please let us know how it turns out.

And do, oh please do, have a nice day.

Excuse my lack of knowledge; But whats a "Battalion CSM" and is there a reason for why Infantry Soldiers can't wear SF BDUs? I thought it was called SF BDUs because SF invented it.

How do you explain that? NBC/GoreTex suit perhaps? Is there an official regulation/policy about what soldiers can or cannot wear?

1) No one here owes you an explaination.

2) If your really curious about those questions, get back to us six months after your enlistment. We'll fill in the blanks.

3) " I thought".... funny of you putting those two words together. Think this; no one here likes you.

Yes, regulations cover the wear of all military uniforms. Modified uniforms and equipment are done for use in the field only, they then fall under what the unit commander will allow. SOFs are more realistic than normal line units (Regular Infantry.) their job is also different so they do what it takes to make things work.

When you asked where you can buy the SF modified uniform it's an instant joke because officially there is no such thing. I'm pretty sure they tried to tell you make the modifications yourself, that’s how it’s really done.

A Battalion CSM is a Battalion Command Sergeants Major, he's among the many you do not want to be on the bad side of, in fact in most cases your better off if he doesn't realize you exist.

Take a look at the Command & Control section, Directives, Frequently Posted Questions... read those.

Whaaaat ???? You asked for 3 beers and a tub of popcron.

3--Foster's oil cans @ 4.25 each
1--Tub of popcorn (1 foot deep with a 12 inch diamater opening) @ 5.50 each.
Sorry if you feel cheated but I do have to pay a high over head to the SOCNET admin's, which goes into THEIR beer fund.
I'm doing my best to keep cost down.

Maybe as more trolls and posers and mil.comer's and wannabe's and such like and so forth come over, the prices should go down.

Oh Lord, not militaryphotos.net! With the exception of about 4 people on that site, the rest are complete idiots and likely gay. I've never seen such examples of Gay Delta Envy (GDE) on any other site. I wonder if GDE could be diagnosed as a disorder liable for disability.....

Funny story about one of my CSMs... we were walking along with a known rag-bag behind us about 20m. We passed the regimental CSM and rendered him proper greetings, etc. We then heard "YOU!!!! THERE!!!! STOP SON!!!" After we cleaned the crap out of our pants, we turned to see the CSM (decorated Vietnam vet, burly hispanic fellow, very angry at this point) berating the rag-bag at the top of his lungs. We stayed at a safe distance to watch the fireworks with some amusement.

Seems rag-bag had a cigarette on his ear while he was walking around in his BDUs. He did MANY pushups, situps, flutterkicks, etc.

Unfortunately, the CSM was at this point looking for other victims to join said rag-bag, and we were well within his target range (which turned out to be much farther than we'd realized). He came up to us and started picking nits about our uniforms (which were pretty straight for lower enlisted types). He found an errant thread on my buddie's tunic, and reached for his pocket to note down his name to harrass our 1SG about it... we hear *riiiiiipppppp* as he opens his top pocket on his BDU tunic (which has been modded with velcro rather than buttons, totally against the brigade commander's SOP) to get his notepad... we look at each other then at him and say "Um Sergeant Major?"

He looks embarrassed, says "carry on troops!" and goes back to his cigarette victim for more smoking.

Anyway, that's just an example of how it's like on active duty with uniform issues. Imagine our treatment had we been wearing "RAID" modified BDUs? Yeah, not something I'd like to have lived through. First the CSM, then the 1SG, then the PSG, then my squad leader.

:)
