Those squeals must have a lot of stuff cause everything i see is current squeal issue or "used exclusively by the U.S. Navy SQUEALS". Same with some of that Ranger stuff. I remember seeing stuff in magazines all the time that said their item was currently being issued to the 75th Ranger Regiment. I thought I had got ripped off at supply cause i never got mine. Supply thought it was funny. No flame towards you Zulu but you know what I mean. "DEP" the only hair gel currently issued to the U.S. Navy Seals. ooooohhhhhhh.....aaaaahhhhhhh http://www.specialoperations.com/ubboard/smile.gif

You are right....that shit bothers the hell out of me too, but these boots rock...won't last as long as "Issue" boots but who cares and who wears the issue leathers anyway....may last a while, but the blow for everything else.
Raichle Boots are another good source also. Made in Switzerland. 10th SFG used to have bi-annual validation exercises for the A-Teams. Damn near every Tolz Team used Raichles on the 75 mile force march event.
They were great for Nordic skiing also; already had the binding grooves cut into them.
US Army jungle boots are also excellent when you put different supports in them. The most common one used in 5th SFG was Sorbothane inserts. They absorb up to 90% of the impact transmitted up the leg to the kness and hips.
Thorlo socks are another great piece of kit. Get the heavy duty/extreme hiking types; then dye them black or green with Rit Dye.

Tomtom are you not in RIP?
I dont know about nowdays but when I was in RGT the only footgear we wore were green jungles unless it was very cold we would break out the matterhorns.
Chas
Wouldnt be caught dead wearing leather boots. Might as well wear winter BDUs with a moustache and Jumpboots.

Ya I'm at the 75th regt. right now. But in RIP you can wear what ever you like pretty much in the was of jungle or leather boot's.
When was running shoes substituted for boots in the 75th? During the 1980s?
Mike:
It had to be sometime in the 80s; because we were running in boots during the summer of '79 at B co, 1st Bn.
We were amphib warfare instructors for the company during that time.

Tracy,
2nd Batt switched to running shoes right after I graduated from RIP in December 79.

At Footlocker you can pick up cross trainer
insoles by Spenco for your boots and running
shoes. The great thing about them is that they
have a six month warranty so you take them
back in three months and get new ones for free.Eventually they'll catch on but you can
save money until they do.
