"I felt sad when I saw the homecoming of the first British servicemen that lost their lives for a just cause. Unfortunately, the world is not a safe place and we still need to be ready to defend our values and our security.
As a former officer regular army, I think it's a scandal that the French army isn't fighting side by side with our friends and allies. The British people and its armed forces could be called Europe's best. We will remember them."
