Has anyone worn these boots? They advertise "running shoe technology" in the ad for these boots. Are they good to go?

Go to the Lightfighter Tactical Forum under the tactical clothing forum and ask about them.

I've been contemplating getting a pair soon. How did the size run for you?
PBR549xxx:
I have a pair of the Wellco Tuffcushion jungle boots. I've been very happy with them, and they hold up well in the field. I wore them almost every day while on deployment for the space shuttle recovery mission a couple of months ago. We went through some pretty harsh terrain every day for several weeks - swamps, rocks, roads, thorns, everything. They held up very well and were very comfortable to wear.
Herdsman:
My issue boot size is 10-1/2W, and Wellco tells you to order 1/2 size smaller. I ordered mine in a 10W, and they fit very well. I have no complaints.

So they run "big".
1/2 half size smaller than issue boots (ALTAS?)
If so I'm off to the PX to try on some boots. I don't think they will like my Danners at PLDC.
Well I got my tuffkushions and so far I am very happy with them. Gave them an overnight soak after a good rub down with saddle soap and then wore them dry the next day (got funny looks at work for that one) No ruck sack road march, just wore them around all day.
Took them to the field this past weekend and they were great. I haven't had a chance to but a large number of miles at once on them, but I was on my feet all day either standing around on concrete as as instructor, or humping around the woods doing land nav and survival.
My feet never knew that they had been in boots all weekend, they were great. My one complaint (although easily correctable) is the insoles, they look like they are just gonna soak up water and hold it...will wait to see what happens there. Anyway, my buddy who was wearing issue jungles spent the whole weekend telling me how much he wanted my boots, and I was just comfortable.
I was a little worried about the half size smaller but it is true, I wear a 12 in a tennis shoe, 11.5W issue boot. I ordered 11W in the tuffkushion and they are a perfect fit.
Oh yeah, my buddy just ordered himself a pair this morning :D
One thing to note regarding these Wellco boots.. I have used several pairs over the years..
I use size 11R jungle boot with green canvas..
After the boots really break in they may need to be modified to avoid foot injury...
You will notice in the boot construction that the canvas enters the boot and continues over the feet and toes and is sewn into the sole....under the canvas is a thin felt layer over the toes...what happens is the canvas and felt will evetually lift off the leather and you get "ripples" in the canvas over the toe area...when saddle soap and sweat build up in time these ripples will become very hard ridges that will ripp the meat off most of your toes durring a long ruck ..especially down-hill.... I get a razor blade and CAREFULLY cut out and pull out all the canvas and felt over the foot and toes area..I pull it out from the sole as well....When your done you have just the leather only....now the saddle soap will do a good job on the leather when you put in the toe area...the boots will then feel like old slippers...
A great way to break in boots..I wait till it's late in my apartment complex and bring the boats out to the hot jacuzzi...I put a ton of saddle soap inside and toss them in the hot jacuzzi for 1/2 hour..

Im sorta leaning towards the all leather combat boots. Im guessing that they are just as comfortable. A guy I went to BNCOC with said that Wellco has a store in the Ft Bragg area, Ill check as soon as the Army lets me the hell out of Korea and back to Bragg.

I'm wearing a pair right now. They are alright, I am not happy with the quality of the leather or the canvas on them, but they are comfortable.
