View Full Version : SEAL check
Fred, I got an email from someone who read an article about a Navy SEAL, Scott Helvenston and his training program http://www.sealtraining.com in the May issue of Men's Health magazine (or maybe it was Men's Fitness). The article mentioned that Scott Helvenston was the youngest BUD/S graduate - at 17 years old.

Scott did graduate BUD/S, I don't know the rest of the particulars.
Scott was a real SEAL. He also turned in his Trident because he did not want to go to Ranger School.

Really? I was under the impression that SEALs only went to Ranger school if they wanted to. One of those optional schools they can go to. I guess I was wrong.
You real deal guys might know this but I was reading in one SEAL book (I don't remember which one) but there was a SEAL who had gone to Ranger school and Special Forces school and that he was like the only guy in the military to have done all three. I don't remember his name but maybe you guys know. The guy writing it said that the guy was one of his training instructors.
On his resume, http://www.sealtraining.com/news/resume.htm mentioned he was in teams for 12 years. Umm, he stayed as a SEAL that long and turned down Ranger school?????
That is what I was told. It was a reliable source from Team 3. Don't ask because I won't tell.
I think the reason was that he had been there 12 years and did not have anything to prove. I also heard he was not well liked which makes more sense.
Disclaimer: I met him at one of his events. He seemed fine to me. I personally don't know his history, all I am going by is what I heard.
Scott was in my boat crew in BUD/s (class 122) and yes he was 17. He had some problems adjusting to the Navy and the Teams, but grew up after a while. Don't know about the Ranger school story, but I know he got in very good shape, did CISM and made some workout videos. He probably took off for the Hollywood life.
Whoa! Just checked his site. Now I know why I hated G.I. Jane so much... He was the tech advisor. The boy still hasn't learned...

I don't know if he was the only one but there was a Senior Cheif who was with Team 3 for sometime and he completed all three. His name was Jeffrey Krause and he left the Army to become a Frog from SF. He has a book in the works for more info check out navyseals.com

Hell yeah thats him. It's been awhile since I've talked to him. He was from Farmington and I worked out with him before. You know where he is or how to get in contact with him?
