Maybe I am just dense as sh*t but I can't find anything on ROP in previous posts. I know some of you real deals were former officers (Razor, Rangerhazen, TFRanger) so what is the path to become an officer in the 75th? What is the usual wait for a cherry 1LT before he goes to Hooah School? How are new officers accepted by the more experienced NCOs? Give me anything you got..

Those who graduate hooah school at 1LTs need not apply for the most part. Get that done before your first job as a PL. NCOs in RGT are for the better part, the best you will find. They will accept you for what you are worth, just like they should.

May be important to also point out that there is no such thing as a non-tabbed PL in the Ranger Regiment. In other words, you will have to have the tab before you are even considered for a Ranger assignment, unlike the enlisted E1-E4 ranks that will accept you first (after RIP) and send you later.

What about 2LT.'s? When I visited Notre Dame in June, I was told by the ROTC commander, LTC. Edwards, that after graduation and recieving a commission, any infantry officer can attend Ranger School immediately after college graduation, if they wish to go. So from Ranger School, what would be the path to Regiment? Go to a conventional unit and wait until promotion to 1LT? Sorry for the long post, and thanks in advance for any info.

Grant,

Thats exactly true. You have to go to an ABN or leg infantry unit until your an 02. There are non-infantry officer posts in the 75th, and I'm assuming the same applies.

We seemed to get alot of our PLs coming over from previous Korea assignments. A few were prior service enlisted 75th as well. The majority were West Pointers, and would pull good strings to get the guys etsing as e-4s to apply to the point. Any former bat boys agree / disagree?

I have never seen this with my own eyes, but have heard of it happening, and that is the possibility of 2LTs being assigned to the RGT. From what I understood you would have to have served in the RGT as an enlistedman, talking NCO types here, and then may have a very slim chance.

I never bothered to look into it, it didn't matter to me, perhaps some of the other gentlemen here may be able to lend assistance with that one. Confirming denying, etc.

LowDrag,

Sorry, but I wasn't in Rgt, so I can't give anything more than the info the fellas above put out. However, I WAS an infantry guy for a while, so I can tell you that like mentioned above, you'll go to Ranger school immediately following IOBC if you're an IN 2LT. Even the NG guys in my class were offered a slot; it was then up to their state to fund it, though, so not all could attend.
