The guy I have been seeing for some time now will be going thru training at the base in Coranado. We have talked about getting married and now I have so many questions. But my question for you guys is: do marriages last for boatguys or is it to tough to deal with since the time apart can be great. Matter of fact what is the average time that you are gone from home. Also, is it common that while the guys are away, they play. I am not saying that I don't trust my man, its just my friends have started to scare me. I know this site is more for technical issues, but I can't seem to find any site that relate to spousal questions. Any advice is welcomed. Thank you!

SeaWife,
If your asking these questions then it sounds like you dont know if you trust him or not. Marriages do work in SpecWar but it does take a strong and trusting woman. I feel like Dear Abby, just kidding. Average deployment is 6 months but could be shorter or longer. As far as the whole cheating thing, he could be working at McDonalds and cheat, its not because of the job its because of the home life. Iv'e been in the navy for over 15 years 13 of it as a Boatguy, married for 8 and have never been unfaithful.

Thankyou Boatguy26 for replying. I am not saying that I distrust him. I will admit that most of my fears are about growing apart because the time he will be away can be great. Being married 8 years in today's world is wonderful. But if I may ask, does the time that you are away come between the two of you, does it create problems.
I would also like to make a point here that when you said marriages do work in SpecWar but it does take a strong and trusting woman, shouldn't that also apply to the man. Don't men get weak and jealous?
Thank you.
