Is this the extension added to the SWCC course that has been talked about for a while? They are combining all the quals normally taken after the 9 week SWCC into the 20-something week course? Or is this something different?

Currently the path for becoming a boatguy is to go through the 10 week basic course, then to sere and then you get to the Team and have to go through SWCCI which teaches advanced boatguy skills and then you have to go infront of a board to get your NEC and Pin. With the new BCT & CQT, after 20 weeks of of training, on graduation day you will recieve your Pin and NEC.

Boatguy26,
How the hell are you. I hope things are going well. I was just out there in coronado last week and stopped in to the school house. Man, after hearing about all the things goin on, you couldnt pay me enough to be an Instructor. I just hope that the new guys coming out now have their heads on right.
I think that the new training is a good thing. atleast when they get to the team they already have their pin and nec. Less time it takes to train them at the team.
take care

Do your research absolutely. Also get yourself a few contacts within the community, they can also help you with certain info. I just hate the fact that I am in a poor location. Being in DC I cant always be around Norfolk, to hook up with the guys there. Well being prior BUDS you pretty much know what you are getting into. I just want to get my ass kicking over. What pay grade will you come back as? I just made 1st and will surely get pounded for that at training.
Best of luck to you as well, I will keep updating this site as I move closer to leaving. I dont have a class conviening date, I am waiting for class avaibility. So who knows?? Dont stop training, get there in shape or you will probably suffer a little.

Seeing as how you just made 1st, there is a good chance you will be class leader. Take care of the class if you are, we get alot of 1st classes here that dont and it makes it harder for every1.

Boatguy26,

I think you are right. I feel as though what I have learned in the Bees is differnt than the fleet. Small unit leadership and unit coheshion is a big issue in the CB world. Being able to take care of you troops, is a big sign of leadership. Take care of them and they will take care of you. Having a spine always helps also. I will be ready as I possibly can.

Boatguy26,
Took the 7 exam, missed the board by 1 freaking point. Of course admin couldnt find that point at all. Go figure. No drama to me, I like doing what I am doing. Driving boats, shooting guns and having fun.
Take care at dont pull all your hair out. You have to keep up that california image, surf, sun, sand.
Later days, make better lays
