Curious to find out if the Eagle MKV thigh holster rig is popular, or even used by the troops. Any other versions used/issued?

In case anyone was wondering "why the hell/or what the hell" there are two ID's for (nelson391 and nelson6603), yes they are both me, but for whatever reason my pass word for nelson391 just would not work. I tried to contact Jeff at SOCNET Admin. about it, but never heard from him.
I did not want to take up more room with Usernames than needed....just worked out that way.

I'm not military but LE, and I use the MKV for my stuff that calls for tactical duties. I like it. Pretty comfortable for the most part, and minmal sliding around on the leg. The only thing that is negative for me is that retention when unsnapped is not much, and it can be difficult to resnap in a hurry. Where in WI are you? I'm northwest.

We had Eagles on my team for while. As they wore out, they become more prone to failure. Not stitching you understand, just the material broke down. One guy's SIG took a 20' dive to the concrete, breaking the hammer...not good.
I have used the Bianchi UM84, not fast but secure and, more recently, Safariland 6004... the latter being the superior product. The rigid platform and expandability of the system makes it an excellent tactical holster. Some folks do not like the rotating hood, but it ain't their pistol in my holster.

Are you in the gear selling business or a user?

Not sure if Frog was talking to me or not in regards in being user/seller, but i am a user.
I was considering the Mk series from eagle, but am also considering Uncle Mikes and BlackHawk. I like the feel of the Uncle's stuff and the BlackHawk nylon is good/durable, but the Korean made issue does not sit well in my stomach. I know thats wrong and probably silly...can't knock the thought out of my pea-skull! In BlackHawks defense, if it's good enough for the US military....I can be dam sure it's good enough for me.
In regards to the other question from CHWI, I assume you are in the Chippewa Falls area, if so I am not far away, just north of you.

If the question was directed to me...definitely not in sales.

Nope, not from Chippewa..North of that also. What agency do you work for? I spend a lot of time in the Chippewa area though. I would steer away from the Uncle Mikes offering. For the same money you'll get a holster that rides on the leg much much better. It velcros to the leg instead of fastening with buckles, andin my experience was tougher on blood circulation, abraided the pants more, and made a scritch, scritch, scritch sound every time I walked from the velcro somehow. The newer Uncle Mike's do holster nicer and resnap easier than the Eagle or Blackhawk, but for the ultimate the Safariland seems to be the best. If I was getting another holster I would look at that one. I sure do like that Eagle one, but if I have to hurry and resnap it's not a hurry up thing, but the holster itself is pretty bombproof with all I've put it through with my stuff.
