Recieved my orders in hand on Friday. Report to Coronado in Oct for Pre-cond, class up in Jan. Even more motivated now, can't wait to get out there. Thanks to all on this board who gave me advise, but the hardest part is ahead. Anyone else on here going to be out there at the same time or in the same class?? Drop me a line.

It is normal to have a guy kicking around for a couple of months prior to classing up. It provides ample time for preparation. Besides, who else is gonna take out the trash (LOL).

TATTSAILOR; Are you doing SERE School prior to SWCC?

Currently the Indoc period for SWCC is only 2 weeks, since SBT-12 stopped taking the guys coming out of boot camp prior to them coming to class, lots of guys are showing up at the school almost 2 months before thier class date. Starting in December, the center is going to start a NSW Indoc course. The NSW Indoc course will be comprised of both SWCC & BUD/s candidates. Upon completion of NSW Indoc the students will go to either SWCC Basic or 1st Phase.

Here are some other factors why the orders are so long.

1. PCS orders need to more than 6 months of training, otherwise the orders will be written as TAD.

2. Yes it is a conditioning phase of 45 days approx then to SERE that takes me to the middle of Dec. If you were the Navy would you start a class over the Holiday period. NO!

3. I tell you what if the Navy wants to pay me to PT every day for a few months prior to classing up I am down with that.

Well enough from me I put in my $.02

Actually the reason they are so long is because we are getting more guys from boot camp then we have class space for.

So what is the daily routine for guys like myself then? Are we doing bitch work or what? I called down the schoolhouse with some minor questions. Got the answer I didn't want to hear. I am a SEABEE and wear cammies as my utilities. They told me I have to go back to wearing Dungs for indoc. Aint that a pain in the balls?
Actually it is insulting to a SEABEE!! I will feel like I have been down graded. A bitching SEABEE is a happy SEABEE.

Well the only thing I can say about the whole having to wear dungarees is a down grade, is, its a policy and if it effects your choice of coming then dont, if not then you will have to suck it up, wear some dungarees for acouple weeks and maybe do some, as you call it "Bitch Work", go through class, graduate (if you do) and be part of one of the best organizations in the Navy. If you cant handle that, then stay a SeaBee. I dont mean to be harsh, but what you stated as "Bitch Work" and a "Pain in the Balls" is something that alot of current boatguys have done without complaining. Think of it as a Right of Passage if you will. Like I said, sorry about the harshness but if you want it, dont bitch about it, if you wanna bitch about it, dont do it.

Listen to to Boatguy26. It's only a couple weeks. (like boot camp decivilianizes you.) Yeah, yer a CB, but you wanna be a boat guy. Ya ain't the only one. You'll do fine. Just keep your ears open and your mouth shut for a while.

Speaking of wearing utilities, how many pair should a student show up with? Normal seabag loadout or should I have extra... I haven't worn them in years and I should probably procure a few.

Most guys bring 2 sets, you'll have to wear them for a couple weeks until you class up.

It's not going to stop me from coming. Just a thing I have to deal with man. Not worried about any of those type of things. Just like to express myself sometimes. Sorry for sounding like a bitch!
I just dislike the navy's so called seabag. There is a survey out now trying to come up with seabag layout. Let's see how this turns out. As for me, I will just go to the uniform thrift shop and hook me up some used Dungs.
