I am an OSSN in USNR in KY with Comphibron 8. My understanding is that I am eligible for the EOD pipeline as a Reservist and can still remain a Reservist after completion of the pipeline. Evidently I would have to reaffiliate with one of the Mobile Units.
I have a question on re-affiliating.I'm unclear on what affiliation means. Does affiliation mean having to live in the units geographic area? If I complete the EOD pipeline, would I still be allowed to drill in KY but be affiliated with one of the Mobile Units (as in be deployed with these Units ect.)? I appreciate any information. (Not trying to spam anyone-posted similar question at navy knowledge online awaiting response)

Tough questions... for an Active duty guy. I honestly can't answer any of those because I know very little about the reserve side. I'll try to ask some of the activated reservists we have at our unit right now.

iIf EODDVR is around, he can answer your qoestions. He was, until recently, an EOD OIC at MU10. Like BMF said, the Active and Reserve sides are completely different.

Affiliation means you are an active drilling reservist, 4 drills per month and 12 days active duty a year, with a unit. Doesn't matter which unit but you are obligated for a certian time as per whatever contract you sign. Considered an obligated time of service, 2 years, 3 years or whatever. If you go to any school you will have so many years to serve in reserve status. I do not think you can go the full EOD ride without active time but could be wrong. I do know you can do the EOD assistant and stay reserve but you have to be dive qualified first.
